What is an Elite Member and how do I become one
An Elite member is a member who has exceptional skills and produces high quality art. The elite members have their own gallery where the artwork is categorized by artist. This gallery contains the creme de la creme of the artwork in our database. How do we know who has exceptional skills and who produces high quality art? Read this FAQ that explains the nomination system.
When you become an Elite member your work from the member gallery is transferred to the Elite Gallery which will be based around the artists, instead of around the artwork. The gallery will feature new artworks, the new Elite members and a list of all Elite Members with their personal galleries. Voting is not available in the Elite gallery, comments are available since they are far more valuable than votes for the Elite.
(note: We're still building and designing these elements, some features might or might not be available in the final version)
What's the point of this whole elite thing you ask? Well when we developed GFXartist we had a good look at our fellow community sites. If you look at sites like Deviantart or Digitalart.org you'll notice that it's quite hard to find some masterpieces, it's the natural result of large quantities of work. We've also noticed this in our gallery, the first week almost each and every artwork was a masterpiece and received positive points with the votes. But as the gallery grows, artwork of less experienced artists pours in as well. We're not saying that we don't like that, afterall we're here to learn and what better way is there than showing your artwork to the masses and to hear what they think. However, we feel we should seperate the pros/masters from the rest. That way we can create one gallery with absolute master pieces and one gallery where new and fresh art is submitted by future pros/masters.
If you have more questions about the Elite system, you can send a GFXmessage to 'Martin'.
