Art Materials Resource for Artists Avatar

Hello everyone. I wanted to tell everyone about The Painter's Handbook.org - an art materials resource for artists. This website is owner to Mark Gottsegen. He began teaching in 1974 and has taught drawing and painting at UNC Greensboro since 1976. He has been a member of ASTM International's subcommittee on artist's materials since 1978. He is the author of "A Manual of Painting Materials and Techniques" (Harper & Row, 1986), and "The Painter's Handbook" (Watson-Guptill, 1993. New revised and expanded edition coming in April 2006).

At this site, you can post art material questions at the forums and receive some very in-depth technical answers from Mr. Gottsegen as well as the regulars there, all of whom are artists, art professors, a part of conservation or other such related art positions. It's one of the first sites on the net where these type of questions can be asked and receive quick feedback from accredited professionals in the art world :)

Thanks for reading! I'm actually going over there right now to ask a question about charcoal :p

starqueen I can answer your charcoal question. No you can't use it to draw stripes on white horses in the hopes of passing them off as zebras to sell to rich zoos! The rain will wash it away!

This is now a sticky thread...

Let it be a centralized resource for all references for links to art material resources (of a traditional medium) We have plenty of other digitial tutorial site threads.

Thanks Lousia
