rofl. I was going to post " ITS NOT NUDITY TILL I SEE SOME TITTY!"

the last pic satisfied. Im not sure what u want in WIP -- Everything works, color scheme, anatomy, at least from my angle it does. Wonderful :)

The sea creature, first started out looking quite sad, and I was sad too, then as I scrolled down, I got more and more scared... she turned into a scarey monster.

the right eye is okay but the left one is a bit to far from the nose. you should add some bubbles around her body and coming from the sides of her head because I think she has branchiae(?).

question: do you want her to look scary or do you want her to look happy, or insane? because the mouth makes her either look happy of mad, if it's what you want it's okay, but I think it would be better if she did not smile. I have to say the mouth is very beautiful though. oh and I really like the hand. it'S perfect albeit a bit over exposed at some places.
I like the breast too... ;)

the colar bones are a bit over exagerated IMO.
This is a very good concept, the eyes are a bit distracting though and look too metal for my taste.
I like that painting a lot, and this is a great water colorsheme. :)

And, I don't think you're flooding the forum, I fact, I really like your WIPs. They make me learn :)

Thank you very much for your comments! I know that the collarbones are very prominent but that's exactly what I wanted to do ;) I'll also add bubbles later.
I want her to look scary but hypnotic (?) at the same time and a little bit mad... I think that it's how she actually looks
The eyes cannot be misplaced , I have used some construction lines for the face ;)

Some updates :

Great...and scarey!

I'd love to see some gills on her chest, that would be cool :)

Hell yeah, you're flooding the forum. So without you this forum will be damn tedious .
Really impressed with the process, Diane. Love the colours and the realistic look of the sea monster.
Just have a question : Do you often use many layers for the hair ?

Thank you very much artists!
I've used only 1 layer for the hair but I often create nex layers, add some highlights and them merge them so I don't really know how many layers I've really used for the hair (maybe 2 or 3)
My image is actually made of 2 layers. The background (whole image with body, head, sea....) and a layer to add details. When I'm pleased with the result, I merge them and create a new layer to add more datails (yeah, I know, I'm a messy girl )
Some more work on it :

Thanks again! Crits are very welcome!

No crits? :) But there are lots of issues! I've tried to fix some of them and also tried to add some more depth (I'm not sure that I've been successful though....)
I hope you'll like it :) Crits are very very welcome! Btw, it's the first and last time I'm painting hands like that without ref (or I'll try to study anatomy much better before doing a new one!) because it's really hard :(

Please feel free to crit, don't be afraid of sounding harsh if there's something wrong, just tell me :)

without ref!! you painted the hand without ref? Diane, did I ever tell you I admire you?
the brest is a bit blurrier than it was in the previous versions. but, I think you did it on purpose, to stress on the face, didn't you?

Diane | 08/24/2006 @485 | Editedit post
The chest is darker and blurrier on purpose indeed ;) I wanted to give more depth and to focus more on the face and hand. And I've not used ref for the hand, just tried to take a look at my hand but I've broken my mirror now :(

Some more steps.... I've tried to add light reflections on the body, jellyfish and bubbles, what's your favourite version?
I can delete bubbles, reflections and jellyfish since they are on separate layers. They still are very sketchy. But if you think that it's nice, I'll add more details and I'll make them look less sketchy :)

Version1, version2, version1+2 or no version at all? :)
Thanks for your help!

second version clearly..love the way the bobles look
small crit...the nose looks a bit tilted imo, dunno if thats good or bad:)
but anyway, it looks awesome, maybe do even more light reflections on the whole body;)
watch the arm and the shading there, it looks a bit flat right now, but i'm guessing its not done yet
these are just minor crits, because the overall image is....well u know...AWESOME;)

the more you work with it, the more the pose draws the viewer in. Fantastic.

This is fantastic. The only thing that's bothering me are the bubbles, I don't like them to be honest (they should be more natural looking). Keep it up.

I think you should make a mix of the two. Although I think the bubbles are very well rendered IMHO, I think they arent's at the right place in the picture. And I also like the jellyfish, I'm not sure about their color though, I've never seen those before.. So I think you should add A LOT of bubbles everywhere, especially around her head and hand. I'm sure that's what you had plannned to do but in case...
And I have to say that I LOVE this painting. It's awesome! This should be the water element in the project you talked about a while ago.
