FanArt
archangel811 | 04/24/2007 @238 | Edit edit post
Hi..I'm new here and I'm not exactly sure of how this system works. I made a Fanart about a story I posted at Fanfiction.net, but I don't know if it would be appropiate to post it

http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/5364/finallykj8.jpg

That's the link, I don't know because I used computer effects, I made it with Photoshop CS2, the Luna image is from Wikipedia and the Oliver drawing is from LadyBelial , I colored it and made the Fanart with the pitch picture from a friend, so it's basically a bunch of pictures I put together as a FanArt, your feedback would be great and also if you told me wether or not I can post it.

Greetings!

did you make those pics yourself? I mean the original pictures before you collage them together. because otherwise it's probably not okay. It's more of a copyright thing more than anything else.

thanks :)

and no, I didn't make the images, I just made the FanArt, I do have permission from the authors to use it, and they both know of the FanArt, (one of them has seen it actually, I sent it to LadyBelial but she hasn't answered)I did color the Oliver Wood drawing http://img107.imageshack.us/img107/4500/ollieewerereig2.jpg with photoshop.

I got the Luna Lovegood one from Wiikipedia.

The quote is from the story and the pitch is from a friend's blog.

I'm confused...

ANY image you use, that you did not create from scratch or photograph yourself is copyright.
While you can use images to practice and learn from, legally, you cannot display, sell, or transfer the copyright images of others without their permission. Fan art or no.

The Luna image you got from Wikipedia is copyright. Depending on who created it, you might need their permission, or Wikipedia's, if the image originated from them. The fact that LadyBelial did not reply to you means that you do NOT have her permission to use her art, whether she knows about it, has seen it, or not.

You need to get permission BEFORE you use someone's image, not after.

Hope this helps clear up any confusion.
