Creating a new AVITAR...

This is a stupid one I know... 2½ years at gfx but I still struggle to create for myself a new avitar at 60x60 pixel which is still within the gfx limitations of 10 kb in size. Has anyone experience in doing this with success??? In Photoshop or similar photo editing tools the jpg file size gets to be 15kb and not <=10 kb even if I select the lowest quality for the file size when saving. Can anyone help here please?!

Klick at Photoshop "save for Web" - here,this one is 7kb approximetly

I agree, "save for web" will strip the EXIF info from the file resulting in a smaller file size. Mine is 4.65kb. [Message edited on 01/10 @434]

try GIF format! // and naturally, saving for web ... there can u see the compression and set many values // mine is 2.8 hahaha [Message edited on 01/10 @454]

In Photoshop: File - Save for Web (in CS3 it's Save for Web and Devices) Choose GIF There is an arrow on the right hand size...click it and there will be an option 'Optimize to File Size' It's listed as just kilobytes, so for 1MB you must type 1000k. Be sure to have the option 'current selection' checked for file format, rather than have the program auto select JPG/GIF Type 10k in the file size box Done.
