Ok Folks,

I am trying to install photoshop CS3 extended Version downloaded directly from the Adobe website as a trial...

It keep going through the full thing and at the end says its failed..

I believe I need to clean the register or somthing ? as I recently uninstalled CS2 and some of it might still be there

Any ideas ??

My question is why are you downloading the Extended Version as a trial? Why not the base level PSCS3?

Unless you are working in videography and/or 3d modeling you really won't notice what is so 'extended' about it.

In fact, if you are just looking to edit/enhance your photos, why not just get Lightroom? PS Camera Raw plugin have been retooled in CS3 to greatly mimic Lightroom true...but the program is only $300 (USD) compared to Photoshop.

I have similar story to yours.

As a side job I'll teach continuing education (non-credited) courses at the local community college in about 7 different programs. Well they just started a Photoshop Elements class, which I personally don't own. So as a precursor I downloaded the demo from adobe.com and for the life of me couldn't get it to work. Install yes, allowed to run as 30day trial no. Thank go it's intuitive as hell for the experienced Photoshop user. The fact that I have the CS2 suite and CS3 Master Collection installed does not play a factor imo. I think Adobe is screwing the pooch in their download center.

Half my business is in the videography business, but to be honest I just wanted to try the extended version but more than likely it wont be required, my problem is I cant get it to install :(

If the download version has an "uninstall" option, run it to clear out anything that may be inhibiting your install, then try installing the CS3 download again.

I can't help with the PS problem directly but you might try this program to completely uninstall any remnants left on your computer. It gets all traces of a program on uninstalls.

You can actually also go through your register directly and remove the registry directly and then remove the CS2 afterwards if you havent already done this.... or if the above suggestions from all the others didnt work for some odd reason ;)

Otherwise just go ahead and format your entire computer..... of course just kidding.... far too much work.... if you still got problems and the above suggestions didnt work for some reason let me know and I will try and wreck my brain for more suggestions ;)

PS Sorry for the bit rubbish answer right now, but seriously tired.... will try and help a bit more in the morning :p

Ok first of all.... have you made sure you have uninstalled your CS2 completely? I just tried to install the CS3 extended trial version and it install fine until it does System Check and realises I got PS already.... so if yours says failed it may be that you never got the entire download file from Adobe (Maybe try re-downloading it again if you havent done already? )

Or scan your computer for any adobe PS files there may be and see if your CS2 has not been uninstalled completely......

Even if you dont want to mess with your registries, you can actually go in and check whether your CS2 has been deleted completely..... ;)

Hope it helps....otherwise I am just clueless... :p
