This one gos out to anyone who has posted HDR images..

I CANT DO THEM !!! :)

So I am going to take multiple exposures of most of my images for my next trip to cover myself if/when I decided that I might want to convert one of them to HDR

I plan on using the auto bracket option on either the d200 or the d40x, not sure if the latter has auto bracketing,,

Any ideas or suggestions ??????

autobracketing is great... i usually set mine to bracket 1 and 2/3 stops over and under and then one on neutral of course...

unless you can do 5 brackets on auto bracket, thats even better. i'm not familiar with nikons bracketing.. do 1 and 2 over and under...

use photomatix to put them together is the best way I've ever seen.

I've heard they've upgraded the CS3 hdr thing.. but I've never seen it used so I can't say anything on that.

If you can't auto-bracket, just do it manually and there is plus in this in that you change some of the other settings in terms of color (more vivid) or black and white and bracket as many shots in different ways.

I know that the D40 doesn't have auto-bracketing and I doubt the x version does but what I consider a must feature, can be done quickly manually.

If you want to have some HDR fun -- take the image into photoshop or whatever image program you use and tweak some of the settings before creating some HDR's

See the HDR thread. For most circumstances, I go only 1 stop above, and 1 stop below. Theoretically, the more range you have, the better. I disagree as the workflow and time spent in processing the extra files is painstakingly time consuming and not worth the effort. 95% of my HDR's are 3 photos. (1, +1. -1 f/stops in bracketing).
