Ok, I think I've found what your looking for, this has the same specs as the intuos(except rotation) and 32 buttons, it costs 80 bucks but compare it to the intuos and its defitnetly worth it.

I never use the buttons, some do some don't. I use a Graphire, which the Bamboo replaced and I prefer it over an Intuos the same size

I'd always go Wacom if you can. You didn't say you were including ebay's in the possibilities. Yes get an Intuos if you can.

The Graphire and Bamboo have the same amount of levels of sensitivity.

You could look at this brand too. I am not familiar with them myself but they look cool! http://www.uc-logic.com/products/products_pf1209.htm

I use a Wacom Intuos myself and love it BUT surely it can't be the only good brand on the market?
