My first drawing (Freddy Kruger)
darkheaven0012 | 04/17/2008 @165 | Edit edit post
This is my first post , first of all I need to say that I'm a beginner, a very very beginner, this is really my second drawing, I will not post the first one, because is very bad, I'm also an amateur, so I am trying to learn with almost every internet tutorial that I found

I'm doing this principally for learn and practice, I used to draw with pencils and colors and I'm not this bad with traditional methods, but I began to be interested in digital painting, I Know that I don't have the talent to make decent drawings, but I do this like a hobby, and I want to learn

I am trying to draw Freddy Kruger, I's still in the begining of the drawing so I want before I continue to ask to the experts.... what do you think????, what's wrong???, what I'm doing bad???....If you have time to give me your opinion I'll appreciate it

I´m using my mouse because I don't have a tablet

I made some weird changes....

So what do you think????

It looks like him allright you see to have a good eye.
Couple of things:
Don't just make your colours darker by adding black...light does not work that way. Study for example tree shadows on sunny days...the blue sky reflects in the shadows of trees on the pavement makes these look blue.
Try some brushes it looks like it painted in Microshaft Paint very blocky (unless that is what you want)
But...do yourself a favor GET a TABLET get a cheap secondhand one if you must but I can guarantee it will help. Not only does it make drawing nicer and easier it also means you can work with pressure sensitivity this really improves line quality.

Ok Thanks jawine your advices will help me a lot, i will try to lean more about the light and shadows

About the lines, I fist do this wih a 100% opacity hard brush to block the colors, as I mentioned I am in the beginning of the drawing, then I will blend with a brush with a 50% opacity

I know that I need a Tablet, but as I mentioned in my post I do this like a hobby, for me is a little hard to spend 500 or 600 dollars in a WACOM, but I'll take your advice and I will look for a cheaper one

Thanks for your advices and time
