my new WIP. after taking a bit of a break, getting 2nd degree burns on my hand, and preparing for child number two (due may 22nd), i have started my next painting. The whimsies have returned to capture the gaze of a wondering lost woman. just a quick hour sketch with some shading planned out. my last WIP, flora, was finished and posted.

| i was wondering if i should stay with the muted skintines (something different for me) or warm it up up a bit. the setting is supposed to be at night so i thought muted worked. |

didn't do much in the short time i had to do this tonight. i just reined the closest hand. the fingers and all are pretty much done, i plan on doing a little more to the wrist. i'm trying to do the hands and corset first since i look forward to doing them the least and i don't want to lose interest later.

Nice work very nice composition As for the colours they look a bit "dirty" to me, a bit gray in places. But that is just my opinion if you want to stay with the colours, do it as it is your artwork. |

Be really careful with the hand..I know It's in a difficult position, but that's also why you have to take care to get the proportions right. Did you draw with a photo reference? I'd suggest looking at your own hand in the mirror to figure out why the shadows fall on the shapes like they do. You need to get a really good image of it in your head to be able to paint the shadows correctly on it. Get an quick overview of the muscles/bones in the hand and find out exactly where they bend, that way it'll be easier for you to draw correctly rather than copying off a photo slavishly or making stuff up. I think the corset looks great, but you have to be careful with the skin. Right now it reminds me of the color of clay. You need to introduce more colors to avoid getting it all grey Looks good. Just needs more refining, and I trust you'll do that in the stages to come [Message edited on 05/09 @524]
