First and foremost: the game is going to be freeware. That means no money for you, but none for me either. It's going to be pro publico bono. You will get a place in the credits and a link to a webpage of your choosing.

About the game:

I was inspired by an old NES game that I used to play (the title of which I do not remember, unfortunately), in which you had a couple different platforms, you were constantly running right (and could not stop), and had to shoot various creatures, which were walking/flying towards you. You were also able to switch between the platforms. I would post a link to it, but I really don't remember its title. It was fun, tough :)

I'm coding the game in C#, using XNA. I do have around 11 years of experience in programming (yes, I started young).

A screenshot:

A YouTube video: Video

Controls:
A, D: Walk slower/faster.
W, S Change platform.
Space: Shoot the main weapon (you have to hold it for a while before releasing, since the laser is chargeable and won't shoot with just a single tap).
Left Control: Throw a bomb.

The Windows binary: Link

Note: The game requires DirectX 9+, Microsoft .NET 3.5 and XNA Game Studio 3.0 Redistributable to run.

What I need you to do:

I need someone to create the background graphics. They are 32x32 px tiles, saved as 32bit PNGs. Any style you want, but it has to be consistent, and matching the character graphics (because the background graphics I have right now are only placeholder gfx, and the characters were made by the actual artist who's drawing them).

Use your imagination! It's an arcade game, it doesn't have to make 100% sense :) As long as it's not too comical. Some things to consider are: hieroglyphs (just make sure they're not real, unless you also happen to be an egyptologist :p), weird symbols, big stone blocks, sarcophagi, random items you'd find in an egyptian tomb, statues, and the like. I would prefer each tile to be in a separate file, but I can use a tileset if you prefer to do it that way.

It doesn't have to be done yesterday, but I also don't want to have to wait a month for a single tile, since that is an unreasonably long time to wait for graphics :)

Also, we do have a SVN repository to manage the project, altough it's not public.

Haha, this looks like a game I could get really hooked on! :p I don't think I can help you out, but at least I can wish you good luck on the further progress

Keep it up!

I think you should offer your arts to some mobile development company.
