which one are you confused about, photoshop or image ready...or both?
To be honest i've yet to find a use for image ready, but im sure there a loads of people out there that have.
As far as any art/graphic package goes, the fisrt thing to remember is, its just another tool, its not goin to instantly create great art for you....in sayin that, i think i can make the assumption you already know a fair bit about traditional skills.
what i would say is, if you have'nt already, get your hands on a graphics tablet, wacom are top dogs in that department, just make sure it has pen sensitivity!! After that, its really all down to what type of work you want to do in photoshop....the tutorials section here is as good a place to start as anywhere, if theres anything specific you want to know about, give a shout!....make it loud cause i usually have down or AIC goin full boot in the headphones :p#

First of all Thanks Twinbrush,
Second, both i'v only been useing ms paint (paint) (and a pencil along with a paper) till i got Photo/Image and downloaded GIMP.
And all of them have things i'v never heard of like layers and tools and all sorts of brushes.
I will check the tutorials but I did find a bit hard for a beginner. And one last thing witch is better Photoshop, GIMP, Inkscape or Draw Plus 4 or 6 (you can download DP4 4 free Link: http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/software/DrawPlus/default.asp )
And for the tablet i'v heard of Wacom and they aren't cheep and i don;t own one (huh)

What do you want to use photoshop for? It can be used for many things. To paint with, photo retouching, texturing of 3d models, making layouts for web, and so on... :)

If you want to use it to paint with, then you can experiment with the different brush sets, and there are tons of cool brushes around the internet that you can download. There is a thread about it on the front page now too.
Layers can be useful in many ways. There is the layer styles that you can play with that add different effects to your painting. There are also brush styles and settings that can be cool to try out.

Well it's a bit hard to tell where you could start. The best thing for you is that you just play around with it, and maybe check out some tutorials and videos at youtube, for example. :)

I want to use it to the fullest but painting n 3d modeling are at the top.
I have tried online tutorials but must are for PS CS versions and have PS 7.

And the you tube videos are 85% speed and retouching videos and Adobe.com isn't anymore helpful. (huh)(huh) n (huh)

I'v learnt a few progs by jumping in but have books to goto when I get stuck, i'll keep on till I find a good tut and get a reply.
thanks evbody :)

no probs man! :]#
you can usually download a legal demo trial version of photoshop from the Adobe site, that'l give
you the time to see what its like and get a feel for the workspace and, as SandraS said, the powerful tool presets, and customising options for brushes etc.
To be honest i've never used Gimp or those other programs, i've used painter before, but i always go back to photoshop. Funny because, painter is supposed to be a painting program and photoshop essentially a photo-editing program, but i've found photoshop much better for painting than anything else. For me its the tool of choice and id reccomend it over anything else.
If you're looking mainly to skin and texture models, id advise photoshop and the deep paint 3d plugin, which allows you to interactively paint the model:

http://www.diskovery.com/deep_paint.html
http://www.righthemisphere.com/products/dp3d/Deep3D_UV/index.html

to be honest there is no 'cheap' way to go about gettin these but as for photoshop, the student edition is a lot cheaper and has all the features, you're just not supposed to use it for commercial purposes.
with tablets you can hunt on ebay and usually pick one up failry cheap....but they are in my opinion essential at some point if you really want to experience a more natural and intuitive way of painting digitally. hope that helps.
