Send me your 3ds animated models Avatar

Great News! http://www.gametutorials.com posted my 3ds animation source code. You know what this means. Beta tests are on. Test your models and send me bugs reports. Download the source here:

Forget posting to this thread. It seemed to attrack some rightfully paranoid people that think I might want to steal their work???

Oh well. I'll be making a source post soon, so you can test with your own models. If I asked for bug reports, I would have gotten the same response from these guys.

Beta testing means you send the program out to other people and they test it on their computer. Not visa versa. How are you to know if all platforms and configurations work with yoour program? If I were a suspicious person I would think twice about your request for us to send you our files. Just my 2 cents.

First clue: "No artworks available"
Second clue: "tgraupmann@yahoo.com"

I recommend against sending any kind of source files whatsoever to this guy. I'm going to stop typing now, because if I continue, it's just going to be a flame. In closing: Die, please.

making a 3ds loader nowadays is just lame.
3ds is an obsolete file format, make a loader for the maya, lightwave or max files... or make your own.
anyway, that's a lame way of requesting help.
i don't use any 3ds, cause i work in maya, but, if i had some, i doubt i'ld share them with you, just cause i don't know you, and your loader means nothing to me. if you want to check some features of the file format, do your own .3ds, as most of the coders i know do.
pd: do you work with darkbasic? it's unbelievable....

I would have relied on the Beta test concept, but I am not allowed to release my source just yet. I'm waiting for a response from DigiBen from Gametutorials.com, where I am making a community post of my source code.

As for my profile, I hadn't realized that it was incomplete. *Lacking website* and *Lacking Avatar*. I guess that's what makes a person whole, so I've posted them.

I did not intend on this post looking suspicious. Since I can't yet post my source, I am just looking for others to send me their models so I can test myself. And I have been getting quite a lot of response from those interested in the ancient 3ds format.

You now have access to my website if you want to do a background check. And then if you want further information, you can search yahoo, google, or any other major search engine on "Tim Graupmann" or tgraupmann.

Best Regards,
Tim Graupmann

making a 3ds loader nowadays is a little difficult with the lack of documentation available to describe your perfect world
3ds is no longer supported by AutoDesk/Discreet, but a lot of free and nearly free modeling programs can still export in .3ds
Maya has hefty subsription fees. I do testing with my own .3ds models. I've done unit testing already. Made progress. And now I'm ready to test against models from the community. You see I'm reverse engineering 3d studio basically by trial and error. I render a model, fix what's wrong and then go to the next model...
You'll like this. I spent my hard earned cash at DarkBasic. www.darkbasic.com
I bought the Game Making MEGA PACK! for $125.99. For fun, to learn and experiment. DarkMATTER comes with 200+ .3DS models that I've been testing with. The deal also comes with "The 3D Gamemaker". In 30 seconds, the inexperienced really can make their own 3d game and it spits out the source code when you finish.
pd: Yes, I work with DarkBasic. At least loading the models. The programming language is an extension from Basic. For those of you who are interested. DarkBasic repeatidly has 20 line contests, where in just 20 lines of DarkBasic code you can make a 3d app.

Please, no need to get snitty.
If you did your own Google search you yould find plenty of free 3ds models for download. Then, you could test your loader 'till the cows come home. If you are inept at using Google, then chek this URL http://www.renderosity.com/freestuff.ez

Plenty of files for you to work with. Let's put this thread to bed.........

www.renderosity.com looks like an amature website. The free models aren't organized very well.

www.3dcafe.com is better organized, but finding animated models is a bit hit and miss.

This thread is still open for those of you who want to send in animated .3ds models.

Nope, I don't know any programming... unless you count Flash Actionscripting. You are criticising other websites for being "amateur" and yet you come off as a complete amateur, yourself. I still don't trust you.

Why, may I ask are you insinstant on getting other people to send you their files.
I just don't undersand this.
You stick your nose up to the web sites I offered and the one that you came up with. Aka www.3dcafe.com .
Could this be because you want us to do your dirty work for you?
Could this be you are just a scammer looking for a free ride?
Could this be you are just a little 14 year old pimple squeezer tring to make his friends like him?
I don't know, you tell me......
Because this is what you are coming off as.
I have checked out the addresses you sent and it seemes to me that you didn't get anybody to answer you...
Like I said... let this thread die, because no one will will listen to you,,,,,
You are barking up the wrong tree.......
Just pack it up and go home child.

ok i'll send u a model of a sphere going around in circles and u can test that :)

The sphere going around in circles lacks any hierachy and will work just fine with the loader. I was looking more for limb groupings and such.

Sorry for the plug. Trying to let google know about my 3ds site.

BTW, have you seen the new $10,000 programming contest at google?
