To all members of GFXartist.com who are living near Toronto, Ontario, Canada. ZiN and I from GFX would like to host some sort of get together in Toronto, although much help will be greatly needed to organize this event. A place, time, and date hopefully will come soon but we need your help! And all you Canadians know that we don't have a long summer so if you have any questions or comments or suggestions, please post them. Thanks, Stanley Ounarom [simplistic] p.s. Hey guys we are in need of a few good men and women to help us in gathering fellow Canadian members or those that are interested in attending a Toronto located GFXartist gathering. Also need some ideas on where to host this gathering, a good date that everyone can attend and a good time to start off the event. I have a couple ideas of places to hold this but would like to get some feedback from you, the members that would be wanting to attend. The places I have off the top of my head are Toronto's Island, High Park, Beaches or as Simplistic mentioned possibly Wasaga beach. At this moment I am sure both me and Simp are open to any ideas you may have so start posting so we can get this under way. Thanks a lot guys, I hope we can come together and get something going to have a great 1st annual Toronto GFXartist Gathering. -ZiN

A good place that not only would have ample parking and right off the highway is the exhibition grounds. They have BBQ pits, tables etc if anyones up for that kind of thing. The actual CNE doesnt start up until the end of summer so the grounds wont be flooded with people. As well, for those that dont have a vehicle, like myself, its accessable via the TTC. -DeleriumGirl

Whew, my summer schedule is packed. I really would like to go but I could only do it if it were on a weekend. I live about 4 or 5 hours drive away, so a midweek gathering would be difficult since I would have to take time off. Does anybody know how many people we're talking about anyway. I think it would be difficult to choose a spot without knowing this info.

Both very good points, I pretty much took the size factor into consideration. Another reason why I was naming places that you could fit a couple dozen Gfxartist members or so. As for when I would have suggested a weekend anyway since most people do have the weekend off like myself, so doing it on a weekend has a pretty good chance. Thanks for the suggestions, we would still like to see more posts from you members that are interested. Even if you don't have ideas of places, we would still like to know who is interested in attending. -ziN

Family and friends would be no problem at all, I'd probably bring a few friends along to not feel awkard but meh well. Common people! We need more input and such, any questions, comments, suggestions? Write them down.

Alittle side note, as for the CNE grounds, they area with the BBQ pits and what not is spacious enough for a large number of people, nice and grassy for people to sit if the tables are used up but... then we have the issue of bad weather to consider IF we decided on a place outdoors. Theres tons of places that we could easily utilize for say 50 people or less but at that point money comes into play as theyre mostly resturants, pubs and such along Queen St. West who have no issues about large groups of people. Those are really the only things I can think of that could host for a large number without problem.

No? ok jackrabbit, anyways! thanks for all the rsponses, i haven't been on lately so i haven't seen whats going on in the forums but yea. if we could arrange some sort of board of directors that would be great, think of what positions should be held... such as, i really don't know, this is sad. but places, time and etc to be suggest are great help, anythnig to get this off the ground!

yea Queen street is pretty good lots of Artsy characters there and there was a BIG 5000 person Art festival there a few weekends ago 550 presentors. Or Bloor West At Future Bakery Could be cool, if you know slash dot they are gona meet there one day this month hehe

Wow, nice location, I live right in Toronto area, that would be great to see the gfx artist come here, I can give some suggestions. Here some places that you would like to go to; The sears mall in Toronto, the exihbition place, CN Tower =|, the skydome , many places in Toronto to go to but I can't name of of them =)

Hey, I can show for this, that is after you guys figure out where we are going? Best places I can think of are the EX or the Toronto Island. I lived here for almost 10 years now so I know my way around downtown, so make a decission fast. [Message edited on 08/09 @813]

I'd be up for a meeting in Toronto. Any help you folk need in the organizing - let me know. I've helped organize a couple of Toronto get-togethers for theforce.net so I know what it's like trying to pull together something when you have no idea the number of attendees, ages, etc. etc.

hey zin... i just got back on my machine doing more paintings and i would be interested in doing this! seems like fun, maybe trade some secreats.... although i do belive the location should be a nice quite place so we can all talk in peace... maybe the green room? but that might be too loud.. anyway's put me on the list...im down =)
