Still working on this (well...obviously...) I want to push some more subtle color variations into him and things, but I'm trying to decide if I should do more with the background...and if he needs more "stuff" around him. (maybe magic-smoke-like) I dunno. I probably just need to solidify some sort of story around him, and that might lead to where I want to take it...I'm not sure. Anyway, have a look: Comments/suggestions welcome!

Very nice. He looks a bit like bird there. He could use some scales perhaps, his neck looks a bit too clean. Give him scars/marks in one form of the other. Maybe tie it to that story you're dreaming up. Something to show a bit of personality. Btw. do you have dutch roots? You're last name does suggest so.

Yes detail seems to be missing. I would like to see more, but it dosent have to get crazy. Are you going to do anything more with the background?

Cool...yeah, it does need detail work, I think. I'll see about that... The background, I suppose, depends on what I end up doing with the foreground. I'm content to keep it smoky, though I may have some forms emerging from it. And yeah...somewhere long, long ago I'm related to someone dutch, but I certainly never met them I'm definitely American

The snout of the creature looks a little hard, like armour. I think that gives it a bird-like feel. If that was your intent, you did a good job. But my imagination sees it as more fleshy like a black rhino's face. But, really, you're off to a fine start.
