Hy ya' again! There was this tshirt contest... and I'm just wandering... Where do the prints come out. I mean on what machines? Do you know any (professional but not only) machine which could make high-quality prints???? If you do let me know (links expected)! (I'm looking for a quality machine to start a business...) How much are you willing to spend? One of our presses costs $55,000. That's for a 10 station automatic. The dryer 40ft long is another $20k. Do you want an automatic or a manual press? Do you want to print waterbased, soybased or plastisol? Will you be doing your own separations or subbing it out? How will you make your screens? Using retensionable or wood frames? Direct emulsion or Capillary? I guess what I'm asking is how much money do you have to spend? I can tell you what you need to know, but you need to give me a ballpark figure. You also need to let me know if you are a weekend warrior or if you are going to commit. Do you just want to do it in your basement or do you want to get a shop and get serious or a bit of both? There are plenty of ways to set up for under $5-10,000 and a way or 2 to set up for under $2000 (lots of digging into the classifieds). You can PM me if u are serious. voice

Unless you are planning on doing heat transfer (crap) you need a press. T-shirts are base on the # of colors in the artwork. Depending on how detailed you plan to get the cost could vary immensley. the shop I work for has 3 automatic presses, the newest one cost about $100,000. If you are just looking to mess around with t-shirt art I suggest a manual press 4-6 colors or heat transfers.

I'd need something between 5000 and 10000... but I'm new in this so I don't know what to buy, from where, and any other info that I'd need... so help me out here... I plan to do this seriously... Thanx for helping!

let me help u out. go to goggle. search tshirt printing. what is it? how it can be done? what kind of tehniques are available out there? what are the prieces? read, read, read, read, read so you know what kind of questions to ask in forums. got that? it's the easiest way, trust me.

I think they have answered you. You need to get more detailed information regarding your own plans. You say you are serious about starting this business so you need to ask yourself some questions like, how many t-shirts do you plan on making (per month, per year)? Where will you get the art (yourself or others)? Will you need employees? YOu'll need enough money to sustain you for at least 6 months without one t-shirt order. Are you prepared for that? Other than the equipment, what other startup costs are there (rent, supplies, on-going bills, marketing)? When you mentioned 5000-10000 is that your whole budget, or just for the equipment? Voice was kind enough to offer to speak to you via PM. If I were you, I'd talk his ear off. It's not often that you can get personal help like that from someone you might potentially compete against.

Thanx... but I guess I have to give up waiting for an answer... I PM'd him (and not only) I even wrote an email. But no response... and this happend about a month ago so or maybe more ... I'm not angry or anything I'm just dissapointed that he/them offerd help and then turm ne down... I mean when I pm them or contact them they don't answer... So that's that... Humans...

P.S. dtbz, you might wanna check out Impressions magazine, it's for printing and embroidery industries, i think it costs about $10.00 if you can find it at a bookstore near you. Peace!

G-day anyone out there who can tell me how to print and make my own tshirts and make them to how i want them from home? using a printer etc.can i just get some plastic see-through projector paper and place through the printer them press it onto a tshirt? Anyway of making tshirts from home would be greatly appreciated cheers.

I am interested in starting a t-shirt business and am trying to find a quality & cost effective way to make this happen. I am looking to startup under $1000 (if possible) Right now I have found shirts at a good price, the problem is the printing. I want a quality product but can't afford a lot of money. I have a heat press that my father gave me and am looking into hot-split plastisol ink transfers from berda.com. If anyone has any feedback please get back at me.
