I'm from Burnaby. So how's it going?

P.S. The weather hasn't been very kind to us lately...

when is it? It's either raining... or it's.. uh... raining. :)

I like the rain.. but even so.. you need a break once in a while.

oh.. and snow.. we had hardly any this year... the few times I did go skiing this year.. it was all icy.. :S

but anyway.. yeah... hello everyone! (waves from up in north van)... watch out for bears..

Hmm... there's nothing much to say besides hello, so I guess we can discuss something related to our area. What do you guys think of the Olympics being held around here, would it really benefit the city and the people?

hahaha
I have two Canucks (not the players) staying with me in London this week.Vancouver BCers. You Canadians are proud.
I've been there, great place. Beautiful, clean, friendly. but after a while I found this rather annoying. Maybe I miss people shouting at each other on the bus. Almost too perfect.......How do you guys feel??

well, having only been outside of canada twice.. once on a ski trip to the states and once more when I had to be in a parade in the states.. I never really got much culture outside of Canada.. however, within Canada.. I would have to say BC is a bit more relaxed than some of the other areas in Canada.. However, it still has its bad areas and faults like any other place. I found living in Ontario that people were a little harder there... less open and often likley to avoid looking people directly in the eye, lest they thing you're trying to start something.. or think you're going to rob them :S

My first day at school in ontario someone got shot over their place in the cafeteria line up :o... then later in that first month there was a knife fight over a girl. Heard about a few driveby shootings.. and I went to a school afterwards that had a high rate of suicide.. so eventually I left back for BC.

Alberta has some odd weather.. it can be frost bite warnings in the morning .. as in your fingers will freeze after 5 mins exposure.. and then by the afternoon.. you are wearing shorts and a t-shirt :p

Winnepeg has the most wicked thunder and lighting storms I've seen in my life.. gorgeous.. I could see for miles..

I don't really remember saskatchewan.. I remember a little bit of ottowa.. it has lots of pockets of just french and other pockets of just engish.. which can be a bit dissorienting.. and the few areas I remember seemed rather stale.. lots of grass and cement.. without many buildings.. but I didn't spend a long time there.. this was just the area which one of my family members lived. :p So other than parlament.. it just seemed that way..

Quebec.. well.. depending on where you are.. they have a lot of old beautifull buildings. Some areas that are newer.. but you'll step down a side street and bam.. like back in time. Also, a slightly more relaxed feeling in some areas.. seems to be a lot of people who are willing to say hello to you.. just because you happen to be at the same stop light.

and.. well.. that's my impression of areas of Canada I've been..

Having lived in the Ukraine until I was 13, I can say that Canada is a very tolerant and fiendly country. It's nice when a complete sranger will say hello to you in the park, or if you smile at the casheir in the supermarket you won't be looked at like you have some sort of mental disability. Although there's only 2 kinds of weather - summer and rain - I think vancouver's a pretty good place to live. I can only wish for better public transit and road planning.

A friend of mine lived in Newfoundland for a while and she said that you had to drive for 4 hours to get to the nearest shopping mall that sonsisted of a few department stores and a movie theatre, so I think we're pretty lucky with the 2 hour drive to Whistler.

I think vancity is very tolerant also, laid back and friendly in general. I hope it stays like that. even eith the housing going through the roof when I left.

I've lived in Quebec for a very short period of time. Right in Gatineau. Might be moving back to Ottawa in a year or two. :)
