Description

Being on visit in Israel gives great opportunities for photography.

Amoung those nature, architecture and moreover the mix of people.

It is a meltpot of people from all over the world with different cultures and religions. You find both the ultra ortodox jews as well as the modern israelis.

Jerusalem is more of the old, traditional and religious.

Tel Aviv is the modern city with the beach, shops, restaurants and fantastic outdoor evening life. The people there are aware of the latest fashions and it is such a gap between those 2 cities. Like a decade separating these cities.

This particular composition was taken on the main walking street - Ben Yehuda in central Jerusalem.

I like the way it turned out with the 2 gentleman talking to each other.

The atmosphere is just there! Could spend hours and days in this spot! :)

Hope you will enjoy!

PS.
For the mood I preferred the bw with a tiny tint of yellow in post.

;)

Very good timing ;) What about B&W? :) I think it would look nicer:p in my opinion.

@everseen: It is bw with a tiny tint of yellow (CS3 B&W feature).
Did this to give it that "old"ish feel... :p

It sure does resemble an old style photograph with this tone chose, nice idea for this scene. The composition is strong, attention is directed towards the two men. People in background are blurred enough to add to the overall feel of the scene, yet don't intrude much into the focus. The white of the mans' clothing in background does pull attention somewhat from the subjects, perhaps cloning it out would make it so the hat doesn't draw into the background.

I love the tones you have come up with to give the setting a suitably "lost in time" feeling. The eyes of the man on the right speak a lot as well. Eyes that have seen a lot indeed. Exceptional work.

As I say: Jerusalem and Tel Aviv are 60 km and 2000 years apart.

Great characters, emphasized by the presence of younger and more 'modern' looking ones at the background. Like in Jerusalem.

The four of them form a nice diagonal line for the composition. The fifth looks like a manikin or some character from "Onedin line".

A very well taken 'planned street shot'. :p ;)

I really like how the background looks.....is not distracting and enhances the main subject.......beautiful tonalities!

Very well captured. Don't really have anything more to add to what has already been said. Very nice old felling and very well composed.

Nice one Patric. I like the tones. I might have cropped some from the bottom and left a bit more room above.

I like it. Nice expressions. It's a little too yellow for my taste, but other than that no observations. Congrats ;)

Ok here goes.....

If this had been my photo here are the comments you would most likely have pointed out should have been different

1. I would have liked the chair should be fully in the image - the crop feels a bit too tight
2. I would have liked if the two men were a bit off center
3. I would have like if there was a bit more space in the right of the photo in the direction the man is looking.

Otherwise ALL GOOD

Very nice shot :)

PS Forgot to mention I would love some kids playing with a ball to the right

Love the expression on the guy standing up. Great choice with the sepia. I also think the DOF here is very well done. Personally, I'd add a little more brightness/exposure, and I'd heal out the two cigarette butts (or whatever they are) by their feet. Nicely composed, and tells a story. Great shot, Patrick!

Great job with this one Patrick, I agree with much of what Roadrunner said. I also like the contrast between the older gentleman and the more modern bags he is holding, it adds to that feeling of traditional vs. modern. I once was at the park and saw two older gentlemen speaking and to me it seemed like they were telling old war stories and were really into the conversation. Sadly I had neither the guts or telephoto lens to take a great candid shot of them like you have done.

Sorry so late...

Anyway, I always enjoy your "street photography." Nice composition, excellent tones, and the sepia works well here.
