Description
How do people in your country celebrate Halloween (All Hallows Eve)? I'd love to hear from members of all the countries represented on GFX.This photo is only manipulated by the addition of my cat Raphael's eyes. Otherwise, this scene was set up in the dark using black matboard as a backdrop and base to reduce reflection.
Linked below is a photo of Raphael who kindly donated us his eyes for this fun little project.

Well I believe it started here in UK but we don't really take it that seriously (mind you in the last few years the kids have started going all american on us here with 'proms' and stuff and I have noticed halloween merchandise is swamping the shops these days)
Anyway happy Halloween (I sound stupid when I say that lol).

Halloween takes our (somewhat politically serious) Guy Fawkes' night into the pure fun zone! The children in the school where I work have tremendous fun weeks ahead of the event, discussing and preparing their costumes, plans of action and without doubt, their wicked 'tricks'
LOL! God Bless USA!
Yeah Andy... it is sorta weird still talking about 'Halloween' as though it's been around here for ever
Thanks for the presentation and interesting topic Michelle. Best wishes and..... BOO!

I reckon we dress Andy Jones up as a turkey (or is that Thanks Giving? Aint got that over here yet...) and have millions of shots taken from all angles of embarassment, then post them across the planet, as a gesture of good will... Nuthin to do with Halloween but what the heck, we can maybe tweak it a bit with a lil Voodoo or something later?
Oh yeah Michelle, I wanna apologise on behalf of Andy for his messin' up a perfectly good topic post. Baaaaad Andy!

Infact, in sweden I don't think that many people celebrate halloween, I guess it is spreading some and there are a few kids that trick or treat but still fairly uncomon. Though we do watch the odd horror flick

Well this is the United Kingdom, and I expect Hallowe'en to be the same thing as it is in the states. However, back where I come from, Halowe'en is NOt a holiday (despite the fact that some of us do try to ape western customs, but Hallowe'en is still not a holiday in Malaysia).
The Chinese do also have their own form of Hallowe'en, but it's less celebrated and less welcome. Because whereals the usual Hallowe'en goes on for 1 day, the Chinese dedicate 1 MONTH for the same purpose - being for the worship of the dead. As a general rule, many traditional Chinese dread the 7th Month and loathe even to discuss it at all on any other time of the year. Even many of my relatives still won't say "ghost" but something more like "hao xiongdi (good brothers)" for fear of offending any otherworldly beings during the 7th month.

But the eyes - to be honest - disturb me a bit.
For my taste it would favour the orange/ black palette only

I guess we're slowly importing the halloween celebration in Norway. I don't think a lot of ppl make a big deal out of it. Sometimes I am, and it's usually so much fun! This year we're planning on having a party over at a friend's place. We're not very experienced, but we'll try to make it as fun as possible
Thanks for sharing

In my country (Bulgaria) we don't have Halloween. But we have similar feast, called kukery dancing. It took place in early spring.

Comments about work are always acceptable. Comments like, "You suck and your work sucks." Has no bearing on being anything but diminutive and insulting, lowering the professional standards this site is trying to upkeep, and as a result, won't be tolerated when put on display in a public matter.
If anyone wants to drop any sense of unprofessionalism, they can send it via PM. That's what the system is there for.
Nova or anyone else can post all they want about what they don't like, but if you want to just sum it up with "You Suck! and your work Sucks!", well that's about as helpful as saying "Great Job!" in trying to make any sort of change to an artist and their posting habits.
Offer a solution to create a better product....I have already explained this to Nova in a PM, and I encourage her and yourself to PM me if you wish to discuss this further....

I refer you to http://www.gfxartist.com/about/FAQ/37086/ for further explanation. Refer to #2.
If you have issues with those who leave such 'flowery' comments then PM them, do not take it out on the artist.
I've already noticed your new comment, I'm asking you nicely to put your energy into creating new artwork, or helping others grow. A flame war instigated in a member's artwork thread will not be tolerated.
This is the last time I will address this in public
