Description

My first step into unknown area. I have never painted landscape and this one just happened ... somehow.

It's painted from scratch, without any refference. But ufffffff with a lot of hit/miss experiments with brushes.

wow! thats very cool! great sence of depth! my only crit is the entire image is a little too misty for my taste, but thats just a minor issue, so its great otherwise! the clouds were pulled off quite naturalistically and realistically! i like the colours used to.

those look like space crafts or futuristic buildings in the backround of some sort. nice touch if it is

GFXartist sponsor flowjoe: believe me, being a landscape photographer helped me a lot :) As Elite WarrenLouw mentioned, there are several questionable issues that worth for improvement. But first step has been made :)

Curently I have few other landscapes/citiscapes in WIP, but man, I have lack of time! :p

Big thanks to everyone for suggestions!

Hey, good work! Especially if this is your first landscape painting. :) The forest and the mountains look too blurry, even if you tried to give it a foggy look. But sorry, I don't know how else to paint fog. :( I might be wrong.
Anyway, I like that thing to the left, further towards the horizon, though I don't know what it is... But it's a nice detail in focus.
Why not do more of this kind? ;)

Thank you  Jane. Fog still isn't under my control (as everything else :) ) - but once the error is known, it's point where to start with improvement.

After I will finish my curent WIPs I will start experiments with matte-painting. With several unpublished landscape photographs I surely have enough material to work with.

This is fantastic! A bit too misty maybe, though the textures generally look very nice. Calm mood to it too :)

Love it Robert! Absolutely wonderful!
Don't know what those big things in the bg are, but they work well! (thumbup)

Excellent job, Robert. The vegetation in the foreground is a bit hard to tell what it is. Because of the realistic effecto fo the overall piece, I want to see more detail in the foreground. Perhaps if you showed more brushstrokes throughout, then the foreground would match it surroundings better.

But still an excellent job!

Absolutely wonderful. Didn't know you could do paintings as well as photography. Very good indeed.

The atmosphere is pretty good and the fog works really well. Only one crit here: the foreground on the right (bottom) suddenly seems to grow in perspective with the rest of the mountain. It's as if this part is zoomed in on and the rest is much farther than it should be.

This is really, really nice! You will be an excellent matte-painter (...you already are actually ;P ) as you got the perfect "eye" for composition, colors and light.

I think the overall mist is beautiful. The fog is imo a bit "rough" (that is a choice of brush I guess). I think it could have been a tad smoother. Also, I didn't notice the "space-like-objects" in the background until a little later...maybe there could have been an "eye-catcher" in the foreground?
However, I will enjoy your future work in this genre as much I already enjoy your photography! I really love this!

I can tell it's your first attempt, but it's a really good attempt at that. Much better then mine, I really like what you did on the right side, the left side has something wierd going on witht the water, maybe a little too flat and too sudden of a change from 'thick' to 'thin' near the border? The wierd angles is a cool effect though, I like what you did with sky
