Description
This is my latest painting. It took me 20+ hours with Photoshop CS2 and a Wacom Tablet. I was going for a realistic look with this one and I am pretty pleased with the final outcome. Your comments are welcome and thanks for looking.Ref: http://www.cerebral-art.com/LaRocca/images/30256372.jpg

Thanks for the crit btw. I agree, the face looks a little flat due to the strong light that is on it. I'll play around with it some more.

But my biggest problem is her expression...or lack of expression. It's always a danger when using these kind of glamour shots for reference with their 'come on in' sultry look...it's just not the face of someone much bothered about her 'imprisonment'...or suggests that maybe she kinda enjoys it (some ladies do I've been told...ahem!) which doesn't seem to be your intention here...though I could be wrong.
Not entirely convinced on her costume either...if her bra is as hard as it looks shes gonna get awful uncomfortable when she bends forward.
Some of this might sound like nit picking. But most fantasy paintings are trying to tell a story, so you have to sure each element is telling the right story (her facial expression) and everything propels that story and doesn't push the viewer out of it through improbability or impracticality (her bra).

Kaduflyer - Thank you very much for your detailed critique. I'll explain my thinking behind some of the issues you pointed out.
Blue skintone - I would have loved to put more of the blue tones in her skin but I felt that it wouldn't be as realistic since the light being projected from behind her. Trust me; I had to mold myself back from adding more blue.
Lack of expression - I was trying to give her a "deer in the headlights" expression. She is basically sitting there on her knees in the complete blackness of this dungeon and then a door is suddenly jerked open spilling an extreme concentration of light onto her. She leans back slightly and gazes into the light to see who is there...it could be her savior....or it could be her doom.
The "bra" - I must admit, it is a bit impractical but I don't really mind it. You really have to ask yourself...what is the most impractical thing about it...the fact that if she bent over it would be uncomfortable or the fact that it only protects he chest? If you look at most fantasy artwork featuring females in armor I'd say atleast 75% are impractical. Why are the breasts fortified with impenetrable armor and the stomach, arms, legs, and head left vulnerable to attack? Anyway, I agree with you and you aren't the first to point that out
Thanks again for the comments and the crits.

As for her bra?...well...if this had been a painting of a female warrior in armoured panties and g-string I wouldn't have bothered commenting...I just pass that sort of tired old cliche by!

Great pose, love the wings, the face does come off a little ftatish, due to the dark shadow, perhaps a bit of shading around the side of her face should bring it out . . . .
Great work though, her breastplate looks very 3D in contrast, very nice work!
