Description
Hildman Art 2006Painted with a reference picture I took whilst in Colorado, this was a very random (and very large) acrylic painting. Something like 6' x 4', its taller then i am-though not like thats very hard to do.
Im not a big fan of the bg, but its going in a galery before i decide to go back and fix it.
Meanings behind this? Well it was more of an attempt to paint someone realistically, something ive never done before...obviously the colors are a little off but I think it turnd out decent. I didn't paint this with any overly large idea, but I think it leaves a lot for interpretation. I like the cyan portion that seperates the bg from the Tom.

Nice and expressive colourful brushstrokes, especially on the face. They are a little too messy in the background I think, perhaps you could have painted them more paralel with each other? And perhaps not, as it could get too boring.
So I like the colours, and the face looks pretty good.

Very well done, great use of colours! I'd like to see some cyan on the face for the shading instead of black

In my opinion it would have been better if you'd crop away some of the bg or widen the background with some additional landscape or whatever (which would have been even better I think). The other thing is that if you want to paint realistic you should chose a lightsource and stick to that.
But to be honest, I like the expressionistic touch of it.
The colors are warm and pleasant. The strokes have a flow that forms the face and that's wonderful to look at.
