Description

I recently did a colab with amoeba it's well worth checking out, she really went well beyond all expectations and really took my breath away with her interpretation, A Girl and her Bunny Rabbit by  amoeba
My works always have a degree of interpretation, and roughness, this definately is one of those moments.

Way to go Aaron!
The expression on your character is coming along very well. The reference is worth viewing and I can clearly see how you progressed to this piece :)
Keep it up and again, great "combo" you have with  amoeba
Full speed ahead!!! o_~

Great work, the left arm looks a bit off though. Nice as always, I think that it could become very dark in the middle and lighter on the sides.... A gradient shading work would be nice here ;)

fantastic style.

My only problem is that its a bit rough and therefore should be in WIP. I think if this was really polished it would be fantastic.

Avatar Juro

 05/15/06 @436

Ok, it's not bad, however: your work seems to suffer however from a one subject syndrome. Lets start to see some experimentation with your work, step outside of the safety zone.

Sorry if this is a little harsh but "awsome" comments arn't very helpful to anyone, esp yourself.

Avatar deandude

this is another sketch that should be in the WIP forum...

for the piece I'm currently working on, I've gone through 4 sketches, 3 of which I've posted in the WIP forum for constructive crits to help me along. I'm not going to publish until the final piece is good and done. I wish more people would follow this procedure...I think it's a gfx policy too, right?

Avatar seeThrou

 05/15/06 @778

sketches are vague and lack detail, you would not be able to define a total image, or theme, I do not close every line I make, or go into amazing detail, I like to leave things open, and only recently have pushed to add more than the norm, it is a choice of style, if a rock is a rock I do not need to continue to define the rock, everything I draw is intended to go on to a better from, ei color. All in all some good advice but your starting to miss things as well.

your style itīs making stronger every post!
i think in this like a very complete picture, and i like it a lot!, itīs your choice if you want to go in more details or not.

the color version of: A girl and her... it awesome.

Pheeww. What shall I say?
At your very first posting I asked you, why are you not interested in finishing your stuff yourself? And somehow I would like to ask this question again.

Comparing your old pieces with your new ones I come to this: Your style is still cute and lovely, but funny enough, you didn't became stronger, just more lazy.

This picture is once again a nice start. Explore and finish it.

Avatar augustopatino

 05/15/06 @926

I agree this should stay in the main gallery, itīs detailed enough and evidently not meant to be polished any further. Love its roughness.

Avatar deandude

 05/16/06 @975

....somehow my comments were perceived as meaning only detailed work should be in the main gallery. Rubbish. You just stated that your submissions are sketches ..."everything I draw is intended to go on to a better from". By definition, that's a sketch right? So what's the argument?

Avatar seeThrou

 05/16/06 @001

sketches are rough drafts, we went over this, it's a matter of choice and style and it's argueably going to be intepreted differently by the viewer,if your asking me why I do it, it's a prefference of style, not all my works are the same, they vary. I like loose lines and open spaces, I have a style that is unconventional, and it is going to be contraversial at times. As for going looking for things I don't say, I like your work, and have made that known, you seem to go out of your way to make it known your thoughts on mine. So lets just leave it at that. I welcome everyone to there opinion, and style, there are so many on this site and all are unique, art is not defined by a set rule of you have to, or it is not a drawing. It's an undending arguement...

Avatar deandude

 05/16/06 @054

"...if your asking me why I do it..."

no, I'm not asking why you do it. I'm simply stating that sketches should go in the WIP thread......if the style of your finished pieces is sketches, well then so be it.

hehe I have to point out this contradiction then I will stop arguing with you. You said "I welcome everyone to there opinion"...then you say "you seem to go out of your way to make it known your thoughts on mine"...well I'm offering my opinion to you, does my opinion still count even though I don't say "amazing work" and give you 10+ for everything you publish? Apparently you do have to have a title for everything, as technically, this does have a title. :p

This is a beautifully composed image...a nice, circular movement. And I'm quite tempted to cuddle that foremost critter. :3

Avatar Squeaky

 05/16/06 @259

It looks fine, I just wish it were a bit cleaner.... the blotchiness on her face, for example.
But... Aaron.... do you draw ANYTHING other than chicks and funny animals? you know like.... men.... or .... I'd like to see you do something new, to be perfectly honest, it gets a BIT dull- same style, same subjects. EXPAND your horizons!

Avatar Sageon

 05/16/06 @320

oh...high detailes stuff this...give me a sec...*scrolling* ok back man you went all out in detail....maybe a bit to much because I don't know where too focus here at first....but that amuzes me....it's very early here right now so maube that's more the problem....... well as it's allmost becoming tradition, you get my max points 9/9 vote I think your style rock and if you ever get your own comic book with this I want a signed version ^^

Sorry for being late! ;)

About this piece I say: HURRAY for motion!
By putting motion in this piece it's getting alive right away, you see? Something is really happening here!
The face/expression of the girl is becoming more mature yet 'unique'. Good to see you take it step by step a little further. YAY for the compo and the animals too.
cheers, Lola.

It is rough, but for me that gives it personality. I don't want to praise, but I love that world that you create, and seeing one took even further by amoeba was really a delight. Nice work!

I have one wish that the darks were a little more black for contrast. Some of your detail is getting lost. Otherwise its another peice that is great for your style!

Avatar WarrenLouw

 05/19/06 @791

your style is abstract in a cool and unique way. If I were you Id sit down and spend a while on an artwork to really execute the rendering with care, like really put your everything into it. it would be interresting to see how something like that would turn out since your concepts are cool. otherwise its great stuff from you man!

Avatar Almost-Human

 05/20/06 @421

firstly Aaron I dont have the skill to give you a meaningful crit here, But I will go on gut feeling.. In addition it seems to have all been said by the "BIG GUNS" and you not I will understand what is relevant to your style !

Keep it up man.. Take the advice you honestly think works and stay true to yourself..

I am going to vote on all your other work without commenting as it would only end in me posting the same comment ! and hey, I like your style and this image quite a bit ! Keep it up !

Very strong piece again! Dont know why people are tryin to shoot you down, especially over something as stupid as the rediculous labelling of something as sketch or finished work. AS long as your doing it with a smile on your face thats whats important... and from the number of crits you get i think you give a few people a smile too! Good to see your work again aaron.

ha I'm late commenting:p

sorry for that.

I think the piece as a whole is nice, expressive and eye-catching.

I do feel that a bit more refinement is needed (yeah sorry for saying that)
But on the other hand, as you've stated THIS is your style.
And I'm seeing more and more what you're going for.

Keep it up!
