I'll have to admit...I saw the thumbnail and was like, "Oh no...another insect macro..." but this is really great actually. The DOF makes this shot. Almost looks like a shot from a movie. Like the camera will pan up focus on what's ahead, and it'll have nothing to do with the grasshopper. I'm going to give you a +10, just cause you used "Matrix Metering" Nice work

I know full well that you can't always have the perfect subject, but this poor fella is missing a leg! Anyway, I agree with Brandon about the perspective and DOF--they do indeed make this shot. You've also nailed the composition, colours and sharpness. Combine those elements with a title that fits the photo and it's a winning combination. Nice work!

I really love this shot. The composition is perfect, as if the grasshopper is gazing at the horizon. The DOF is perfect and the sky adds a wonderful element. This couldn't be improved in any way.
