Description
Hey again everyone! Time to post something in the 3D section. This particular image is a bit of a remix/edit that I did on one of the frames from my last year's student, animated short. The whole thing is basically a music driven, kinda-abtract-ish, animation. It features robotic dolls, suspanded in a weightless, and sterile environment. I was going for a very clean, and plastic look with this one. Very inspired by 'Ghost in the Shell', and Chris Cunningham's 'All Is Full Of Love', video production.I modeled, and animated in Maya, renderd in MentalRay, with additional post work done afterwards.
The above image was one of the artworks featured in the 'Upcoming Artists' section of a recent issue of '3D World Magazine'.
If anyone is interested, below are links to a larger version of the image, the actual animation, and some wallpaper (based on the above image).
Thanks, and hope you enjoy

Pros:very clinical enviroment well executed, retains lots of the anime inspiration, the floating menu's are a dead give away that has been fully adopted by hollywood scifi
the entire image is a very big nod to cyberpunk anime genre, thats obivious. the hair in this image particulary helps maintain the mood, that struck me, and there is an innocence in the eye's of the robot, all the color choices are dead on also. Cons:something about the hands, maybe its just that there is so much structure under them, they seem almost out of place with the structure of the rest of the robot, i'm left wondering if simplifying them wouldn't have worked better.
Overall opinion/feedback:top notch work, shows a high level of dedication to the project, and overall knowledge of the genre...would love to get to see the video.

Cigaro/Hooperized - I'm not sure that I fully agree. Though the model is by no means perfect (it was my first shot at seriously modeling something),
the perspective on the palm, and the position of the thumb, would look fairly close to that. If I were to go back, I'd probably shorten the palm a tad, and definitely fix my rig. I had a helluva time rigging that model up after the rig-athon, crash course that I received. The palms were a tough rig to do, and I was never fully satisfied with the deformations, especially the ones between the palm and the thumb.
Anyway, thanks for the crit

'SubtleDelight' - It's always nice to hear from someone else whose attempted 3D before. You get a completely different outlook and appreciation about the work that goes into 3D production. Many thanks

Traff - Thank you very much. I know what you mean though - I tend to gravitate more towards drawing and painting, rather than 3D. Years ago, 3D is all that I wanted to learn and do, but not anymore. Although, I find that when you actually do go through, and finish a 3D project succefully, it's quite satisfying

Matthias - Thanks. This was my first major animation, and my time was super limited. Needless to say, I really had to choose my battles. My rigging skills weren't quite up there, and I had to do alot of research on modeling and rendering. So definiely, it's anything but perfect. If anything, I applied myself a bit to everything, because there was no way that I would perfect anything at all, and get the project done on time. Thanks for the cooments
Peanutx777 - Thank you. You have a point there. I really wanted a super clean, steralized lookto the whole thing, so I really needed to keep up the brightness.
