good shading, interesting perspective..

good job on the perspective, must have been quite challenging. Get the white background out though, it lights up too much.

Yeah, dark grey for example would probably look more pleasing to the eye than the white. other than that I really enjoy this piece, good drawing, good shading, good job =)

I love the hair. =)

Actually it looks more like the Witchblade style, I mean like the guy who picked it up after Michael Turner stopped w it.
Hrm, I forgot his name.

hey traum4 -why not try suggesting something in place of the white background rather than just dissing it outright? or say "i think...". Not everyone will agree with what you think so you can't write "Get the white background out though, it lights up too much", it's just your opinion. Speak for yourself. I agree that it is a skillful picture though!

nice piece, wouldn't seem like a painter piece unless you had mentioned it. what brushes did you use? I think you make it a bit more powerful by playing a bit more with the lineart, changing the weights a bit. Right now, they look a bit muted, i think if you bumped the lines up to full black, and then changed the weights on minor lines, it would give it more '''ooomph". just a suggestion though...it looks gereat as is.

Philip

 01/16/03 @393

@Dave: I used the simple water brush for the whole piece. Thanks your lineart suggestion :) I´ll try to work on it.

I remeber viewing this when you submitted it, but it seems I forgot to comment! - Sorry about that. :) There is not much to say except that it looks rather good. Interesting angle and good rendering. The only (minor) thing the is a little distracting is the background being too white, but you can put that down as personal preference. Keep it up!

Very nice job, I think that you should do more work with this character and try working on a background for her. I like her expression, I just can't seem to find the word for it.. Highlights are great and the perspective is awesome. Great Job.

dig the sense of dynamism. here's a question tho': why painter and not photoshop?

Philip

 01/20/03 @869

Again thanks for the positive comments. :)

@crikey: Because I prefer the brushes of Painter to those of Photoshop.
When I color with Photoshop I`m using mainly the gradient-tool.

She reminds me of a woman I went out with for about two weeks, almost looks exactly like her but without the lacey clothes and large breasts. I need to find her and show her this. :)
