Description

Another attempt at a bust shot, trying to work on lighting and tone. I started with the whole thing in greyscale, then added in the color. It seems like if you work the eyes and mouth up you can get away with less detail in the rest of the face :) I also tried painting the eyebrows hair by hair which i had never done before and i really like how they turned out.

I made this over the course of a few evenings in mostly Photoshop 7 with a dash of Painter 9.

Nice work, her neck looks a little bit too long though. Some more work on the hair would be nice :) She has a lovely face!

the facial features don't seem to have any relationship as a whole, the hair is unfinished, and so is the skin texture from her jaw down
imo, with some finisations, it could be turned into something really nice:)

Hmm, the hair has the look and slickness if it were wet. Her head is off kilter slightly, it needs to be tilted to the upper left and rotated to the left. As for her chin, it should be aligned with the center neck region. The flower is a nice element that was added, but it needs some color even if it's faint or neutral. The earing being the title and thus the main focus in part, however the backround is of the same color range as the earing which is detracting from its' simple elegance. A neutral blue or a complementary color to the color of her lips or eyes may have more of an overall impact. Nicely done on your colors and shading, especially the neck and collar bone areas.

wow thanks for these awesome critiques! I never wouldv'e noticed what you guys have, yet now I can see the problem areas clear as day! Any tips on making realistic hair? It's always kinda baffled me. Also, do i have to republish after making improvements or how does that work exactly?

this looks great! i love her earring, i'd love to have a pair of them myself~ most of the things that i could have mentioned anything about have already been said sooo~ i'll just say i like the skin tones very much, and the anatomy of the neck ^^

since you were wondering, linda bergkvist has a nice hair tutorial on her website (www.furiae.com) which is the only one i can really think of off the top of my head~ and also i think you can edit your published works, just go to the place where you usually upload art, and there should have all of your currently published pieces in a list, and they'll have the "edit" option beside them :)
