Description
This is meant as the opposite of "Doom". Note that she is flooding, not walkingFirst of all I have to say that I worked very very long on that face. I finally wanted her design to be done and I saw that I should learn from some "old masters" now. That's why I took my books and looked for artists I'd like the most. One book was featuring french masters and I picked Fragonard and Bougereau as my favorites to learn from.
Influences can be seen here, because I just love their way of painting backgrounds and floating dresses.
I also started to make her costume for real.
BTW, meet my elephant Bodo. He will replace my signature from now on since I desperatly fell in love with him.

This was very worth waiting! I'm glad you posted it here. This is (and I'm sure I already told you that once for one of your pieces) my favorite of yours. It almost looks like a foto. The girl is so beautiful, I really like her outfit, the cloak and the white thing.... it's awesome. I wish I could point some flaws but I can't find any. Wow.... I'm speechless.

I'm tired as heck and I worked my * off in the last days... I am so hoping for the 17th to be over because this means finally some time for relaxing with no major deadlines XD
But I'm still glad that you like it

Forgot to mention, the buildings in the background really add something to the whole painting, I like them. It gives a little idea of the era, of the time.
between, will you post a making of it? That'd be great.

Lovely detail and the girl is a superjob
You might want to drop a few grassthingies in front
her, to blend her into the background some more

Damn good picture though

and that small elephant (bottom left) is very cute...

Crit: the arms look a little too short so it detracts from the elegance of the character. Also, are the hands mirrored?
All in all, very cool image.

Even with reference I am not able to paint them properly. Maybe I should study the anatomy of this part of the body a bit more to get an understanding of what I am exactly painting. In order to create something that doesn't just look like the ref but also fits in into my own work! :/

I think you have developed a pretty good eye for drawing figures, anatomy, etc. (I wish I could draw people too, hehe)
The trees in the background, however, still look like some kind of "brush-stamping", rather than actual trees to me. I think it's the foliage.
The sky is good, and so is the grass, but I'd still soften it at some places. It seems to be sharp everywhere, stealing the focus from the other elements.
Allover, this is good anyway and you really keep getting better, so I'm gonna give you 8 of 9 points.

shes floating... and the hands look like one another... like you took one and flipped it for the other..
its an odd pose to be off the side of a city looking like riding hood.. and floating maybe if you had her skipping through a field and got rid of the city in the background and added a castle or something it would work..
dunno..
she has a pretty face though
*edit* I made this comment before reading your description, now that I read it. its spelled: Bouguereau 'evening mood'
now I can see where you got the hands and pose / floating.. idea
