A simple portrait of my friend Kate, I want to show her personality rather than her physical appreance, so I used stylisation and expression to show her moving, bright and unique personality.

Inspired by the techniques and stlye of Mirja t.. I highly recomened you vistit her gallery on DA (niviswinter).

Did a pencil sketch first (on A3 paper) , then went over with a ball point pen and did some cross hatching shading, the colouring was done with Coloured pencils. I then scanned it it and edit it wih some more colour in Photoshop and some Adjustments, added background and textures.

3 hours work total.

This is really cute! love the pose of the shoulders and that simple spontanious look on her face. It's kinda got that loish feel (which I totally got a soft spot for)

There are some wonderful subtleties to the style of illustration and in the use of color... and speaking go color: Not only do I like your choice of color pallette, but I like how you chose to use it.

Remarkable work!
My personal opinion is that maybe you could focus more on her face and hair, by using a totally black backround... But as you said, you wanted to show her personality more, so that is why you probably chose a colorful backround.
I like it very much!...
