Description

hi there...i was in a strong mood for oil painting (on canvas), when i painted this digital piece, so I handled it in a very similar way as i wouldve done my oils. i even forgot in the middle of the painting process that im sitting infront of my computer, with a pen (wacom tablet), in my hand...:).
I went for suggestions, with casual, spontaneous brushwork, though I kept the setting/environment very traditional/classical. Ive put enough detail that was required to portray the scene that i had in my mind. My goal here, was to capture various kinds of textures and their look/feel (softness, hardness, reflective, shiny, glossy) and I really enjoyed doing every bit of it...:).
No reference used. This is all self-visualized/composed. All painted in artrage – tablet.

Thanks for coming in…cheers all.

waheednasir.

The missing link between digital and traditional – this truly is professional!

And while I'm not a huge fan of flower still lifes, the emulated brushstrokes makes this extremely interesting and come alive – great work.

Nice composition. Handling of the fabric is really well done, especially considering it seems to be quite detailed with all its' small stitches and patterns. Flowers are well done too, but the green ones seem some-what out of place with rest of colors used in this piece. Metallic sheen on bowls is really well done, but using similar color to that used on wall behind it makes flowers look as if they are floating rather than inside them, perhaps a different colored wall or bowls may have yielded better results. Never the less a good job, this composition seems to be much more complex then some of your previous works. Nice to see that your pushing yourself each time.

That's brilliant ! Nice frontal composition. Great material render of the satin, reflections of the elements and light on the bowls... + a very nice touch with the way you painted it. I might have put the two flowers at the bottom left a bit more to the right and lightened a bit the background at the top. the look is a lot attracted by the lights on the bowl and the yellow flower on the satin, but that's about all.

Aha! I found you here - this is quite exquisite. I think the people commenting above with color concerns have poor monitors or are looking at it in bright sunlight on their screens, as I see no such errors on my screen. It's is just as beautiful as when I saw it the first time.

You truly are a master artist and ...your understanding of colour and light are enviable and the fact that this is NOT from life but your mind, makes it doubly so!!

I never thanked you for your advice on ArtRage...many, many apologies! I've bought the programme and though it hasn't won me over from my beloved PS I do use it for drawing with! For some reason it's the only software with a drawing style that actually feels like pencil and paper. You've contributed greatly to saving the rainforests since I'm using less and less drawing paper these days!!!
