Description

Elite, GFXartist sponsor Madanapale has been my inspiration ever since i became a gfx member. I would like to dedicate this photograph to the wise old man.

Shot this shepherd boy yesterday.
His bro & father were along with him with about 350-300 sheeps.
Some members of his family had apperently got off a bus in the next village. So me & my friends were asked to deliver a message to them by his Dad. I got to take his picture in the meanwhile. !!!

# somehow this still doesn't look as smashing as on my computer. Maybe cause of the gfx background !!! So i added a white frame !!! the orignal is in additional downloads !!! Do tell me which looks better !!!

Nice use of black and white for this photo, making it dramatic portrait. Expression is great as he gazes at camera while resting on walking stick. He seems a bit cramped with in the frame, perhaps some extra space around him would have still conveighed his expression without looking cramped. Well done.

This is excellent! The dof is great and the childs expression is strong. I would like to have seen the colour as well.

really very touching ...

seems he is waiting for U man ...
and asking U and the world for helping his brotherhood to educate ...
so that they should't suffer from the situation like him ...

Beautiful portrait. It tells such a moving story of this all-too-wise boy. I like the composition, the expression you captured and the use of a shallow depth of field to keep the story in the foreground, creating a very personal moment with the subject. The only thing I would like to see is an adjustment of the levels to create a little more contrast and to find a better reference for true black in the image. Very nice...

A stunning capture – your portraiture work is really excellent - the background here is perfect it doesn’t distract from the sitter but it adds to the story.

Madanapale is an inspiration to myself, both as a photographer and as a human.. but dont tell him i said that. and he is not old... he is just pretending to be old...

As for this shot.. clone out the smaller of the two sheep in the background and darken the hand under the face.

While your at it clone out the tiny area of cloth on the right hand side of the stick he is leaning on....

Its an amazing image..

really great shot. so young, yet he looks so wise and experienced. about the frames, as of now i prefer the white frame, but perhaps a black version of it would look better. i think as of now the black frame is kind of too narrow, perhaps a wider one would 'push' the photo forward a bit more. i also agree with what jasonworx said about the levels

Thnx a lot guys for all ur comment on this one !!!

@A-H, Jason, Patrick : The small sheep goes out, levels r adjusted to boost some black !! Thnx for ur suggestions guys !! I always looks forward to ur comments !!! A-H the small shirt has been cloned out too !!

@ajitm : yep buddy, some day [guess 10-15 yrs at the most] we will make a free school for such children !! BTW how about another 4-5 day tour on bike ?

Now all you have to do is print it up really big and stick it on your wall..
I would if it was my image... well done..

The only complaint I have is the elbow in the head of the sheep behind the boy.
Other than that, it's totally print worthy, like Brian says,
