Description
Sorry, no fantasy this time ;-) This is a portrait of my girfriend, Tascha. I haven't had time to do much personal paintings lately because of too much work, and my muse has been a bit low due to this. Our recent 2-year anniversary helped a lot, and I wanted to do a simple piece. It's quite detailed, and I spent quite a bit of time on it.Painted using Photoshop CS2 and a Wacom Intuos 2 tablet. Reference used, of course, from a picture I've taken of her. As I don't feel like posting pictures of my girlfriend, here are some cut-outs of the reference picture as this is required from the rules around this place: http://www.henningludvigsen.com/misc/ref_three_lines.jpg

Funny thing that many are mentioning the jeans. I made a painting a couple of years ago and was really not looking forward to paint the jeans on that character. Once I started I realized that it was surpisingly easy and fun to draw denim. I actually though of that before starting this piece...

I think one of the elements that really helps push this piece over the edge (apart from everything else that's already been mentioned) is the shadow on the upper left part of the wall. It's a subtle detail, but compositionally it does a very effective job of putting the image together. This is pure masterclass and top marks in my book!
