Description
Well, heres the newest painting ive been busy trying to get complete. This shows Maid Marian (my version) taking a well earned break somewhere in Sherwood forest. Obviously compared to the last painting of her she does look quite different, this shows her in the more common green forest clothes.
I really diddent want to make the clothes AMAZINGLY out of this world. Just because its fantasy doesont mean it should be over the top. There should allways be a realistic side to fantasy otherwise the whole thing seems too fake. Just take a look at LOTR, theres plenty of crazy creatures and what have you but the makers insisted on having a lot of it down to earth. Same as Star wars, there a lot of OTT sci fi armour and robots BUT you get the people wandering about in rags and old plain clothes. Such as in tantooine. You wouldent be wearing massive uber super armour if you just having a sit down in the forest would you?
Anyway enough of my preaching, back to the painting.
I was going to have a simple background in this but after a few good crits it dawned on me i should puch the backgrounds a little further in my paintings, and also to not oversaturate things like a lot of my work. So it looks more realistic. Hope i pulled it off.
Spent too long on this piece, could have spent a lot longer on it but i felt i learnt all i neeeded and well, bring on the next mountain!
Enjoy and comments are more then welcome!

The background looks ace! I wish I achieved that flowing water look for my Quill painting. She looks really good but the lighting looks almost as if there is a studio light set up rather than natural sunlight.
Love her face!
Keep them coming Sean.9

Some bits look a little odd, unfinished almost - the loops on her right/our left leg seem to cast no shadow (I'm not entirely sure about their shape/volume, in fact, but it could be to do with the downsizing). Also on the same leg the toes have strong and thick outlines separating them that don't fit in with the level of refinement everywhere else.
The lighting does remind of studio lighting a bit, but at the same time it also adds volume (particularly to her face and torso), soooo I'm not sure if that's something worth changing. x)
The water looks a weeee bit overexposed near her bent leg. Just a bit too much whiteness there.

The only problem is that you could mix more bakground colors for the skin texture to obtain better results in skin lighting and image integration. +9/10
