Description

While we haven't received much snow this year (in New Brunswick, Canada), one morning a couple of weeks ago, everything was covered with hoarfrost. It was just gorgeous!

This was the first time this season that I've been out with the camera (sigh), but I got several lovely shots, so I'll try post them here over the next few days.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to wish everyone here at GFXArtist.com a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

This photo was captured with a Nikon D70 (1/125s @ f/5.6, EV +1.33, ISO 200, FL 18 mm).

Nice to see you posting again!
Nice composition!

Wish maybe for more details on some of the snow parts...

I'd increase slightly the black color using selective color.

EDIT: Much better after your tweaking activities! I really like the composition now! :)
Merry Christmas to you! ;)

Interesting setting as bridge fades into fog, snow covered which blends well into sky. Fade into fog is working, but composition seems split between bridge and tree at left. A slightly different perspective on this scene may have brought those areas together creating an overall stronger photo. If tree way closer to edge with bridge lattice work fading off, while remaining visable slightly further than it is currently. Dispite the rather steep critique this is a good photo, hopfully you'll see my thoughts as helpful.

You can feel the cold. And I also like how it fades away.

@moserArtist: Totally agreed about the highlights. Refresh your browser and let me know if the updated version looks better. Thanks for catching that!

@loneorbit: The composition was intentional. I'd like to have been able to compose a little more to the left, but there were a bunch of big ugly signs there that spoiled the image. Regardless, I appreciate your comments. Thanks.

Gosh I can barely remember what snow looks like. The only white christmas around here involves a different sort of powder. Nice shot btw

Yes, a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too! :)
This is a very beautiful photo, and I am happy to see it since we have been lacking snow here in Norway this Christmas. :( This reminds me a bit of Elite, GFXartist sponsor MsMichelleLynn's winter photo that got such high praise. Excellent work, man!
