Description
Winter seaSnow flakes of enchantered dream silently falls
And slowly freezes the sea of winter into a scene from silvery fairytales
That girl deep in sleep on the beach...
Looks as though the Snow White surrounded by forever blooming sea chrisamthemum
Waves clash one after another like the petals of water lily
Let's halt this moment into everlasting hope
Hoping for the warm of spring, melting the ice and snow of the winter sea
Just before the complete evanescence of the rainbow from fairytales
Snow White puts on her holy wedding veil

A poor translation of a really nice Chinese poem I read in a magazine 10 years ago.
The meaning may be lost in translation, but in a nutshell, the poem describes the dreams and hopes of all girls finding their true love like in a fairytale. And as time goes by, reality sets in and it seems as though it's impossible to find The One. The author then expresses her wish at that girls will find their true love before loosing faith in fairytales.
I think it's a beautiful poem ^_^ So i dedicated this painting to it. I tried to capture the moment when "Snow White" wakes up from her sleep by the first touch of the spring.
Not personally happy with the painting, but it'll do for now. I'll come back to it and do another version of it in a couple of years, as the painting is not nearly as beautiful as the poem.

But, for me, the discrepencies in style and degree of polish in different areas might be a bit too pronounced. I love looser, more evident brushwork (as in the dress) as much as smoother rendering (as in the face) or the airbrushiness of the skies, as an example, but perhaps there are too many different types of rendering going on?
I dunno, I think the area that really bothers me is the ground/water; it looks like a wierdly distorted photo, regardless of how it was made, and doesn't quite fit.
But, overall, I really enjoy the mood of the piece and the colors... and the figure is undeniably beautiful.
