Description
Happy New Year everyoneOh, and please look at the closeup and full size versions
Edit: I fixed a few things based on critiques, but I know I wasn't able to fix everything. Just a quick explanation for the reason I didn't want to use references on this piece. When I started this one, I knew I was going to be turning 18 soon, and I wanted this piece to show where I am right now in my artwork. My understanding of human anatomy is poor, but I tried my best to piece it together to test myself. I do plan to use references in future images, but I wanted to see how far I could go without them on this one.

I think the thigh is too long, and the right arm also too long compared to the other. The lighting is wonderful.

You should use reference for the body, so many things look wrong.
Without solid reference you can waste a lot of time figuring it out but still end up wrong. You can draw on different facial features but first you need to understand how they should sit on the face to look right for given angle and persepective. Like the face has a mouth that doesn't match the angle of the nose and shadows that are too sharp and solid in wrong places.
If you had reference the pose could of been more dynamic and interesting.
If your story is that she got bitten by the snake in the feint background then I would make it so she is applying pressure on her leg vs just covering it.

You have some minor flaws, but it's great that you are taking growth of them! If you paint this good at your age, I can't wait to see your artworks in the future!

Still don't understand how people pull this off with photoshop.
Good job!

Carlos- My original intention was to make her look sad, but I was afraid that she was starting to look apathetic when I started working on the shading, so I'm very glad to hear that you see the expression I wanted to convey, thanks

I like the colours, great attention to detailes. Very gentle and sencitive piece. Good work with textures too. Of course I see anatomic flaws but I think it's a great challenge to start trusting to your own imagination. You should try it more

curlyhair- I'm glad to hear you feel the same way that I do about my approach to this piece. As for the number of points I would give to myself, that's hard to say. I know how much effort I put in, but all I can see are flaws, so I don't really know how to rate myself.

I can see you put a lot of work into it.
