Description
I’d like to dedicate this piece to our recently ended Call of Cthulhu pen & paper roleplaying campaign. We kinda scewed it all up getting all tricked by Nyarlathotep! That bastard old God fooled the party through a portal and they got all thrown back to ancient Egypt, except me who barely manage to jump back out before it closed behind me. Actually the others got off better than me as the world kinda ended shortly after this and I was still stuck in 1929. Oh well, it was fun for as long as it lasted…This scene is not really from that session at all, but It’s inspired by the setting and the monsters you can find in this setting. The dude on the picture is referenced from a photo I shot of a childhood friend of mine. I think he looks cool on the picture, giving it all even though he doesn’t really stand a chance against mr. tentacle
Painted during quite a few evenings using Photoshop with a Wacom tablet. Own reference used for the character: http://www.henningludvigsen.com/misc/all_out_ref.jpg

As mentioned the pose and movement looks great
I think those water splashes are a bit slapped on so to speak
Also the creature looks a bit too airbrushy for my taste
The warm light in the background is a good idea as it helps to centerpoint the action and you can define the shapes even better, give more volume.
I was thinking, how about a cool, blueish light instead of the yellow/orange to give the scene an even more eerie look?
Well just some random thoughts from me..
But it's a highly admirable piece (like all of your works)
Keep em coming!

I agree that I was sloppy painting that water splash. I should fix it.
Simba: Nyarlathotep was a God invented by sci-fi author H. P. Lovecraft. If he DID ever exist we would all have been in deep shit by now, hehe. I also didn't say that THIS was an illustration of this fictitious god, I just said that I felt inspired from playing roleplaing in that setting.
