@ Llogres : Good suggestion Llogres, didn't occur to me ! Now that i have tried it, it looks better this way considering the use of 2 trees for depth !

1. The big cloud behind the tree. It makes for a good eye catcher, but I do think it would work better for a photo in colour than for one I IR. The reason would be that the tree almost blends with the cloud in some areas and isn't quite that obvious to the eye anymore, it's the cloud instead (although it does make it look as if it were a part of the tree in a way, I think it actually draws attention from it and I'm not sure that was intended - was it?)
2. As most people read from left to right, it would be more natural if something like the big tree that's on the left were on the right at the end of the road, now it seems to lead from it to nowhere and thus makes the eye go away from the subject(?).
Anyway, it does look good, it's just the things above the seem a bit quirky to me.
Nice clouds

1. About the tree : Its more of an experiment. The 2nd time i tried such a thing (both times in IR
When i used it i was looking for a more similar shape of both the elements. Now as you can see the tree & cloud lines go similar in most of places. And while parts of it do get overlapped. I think that both elements are most dominating on the scene. And hence get compared by the eye. This also help let the eye judge relative size OR depth (as in A manGo tree beneath the hill !! by
Here it makes the Big cloud TOWER on the composition.
About isolating both from each other. I guess the key is Sharpness, But as you pointed out when doing non IR it could also be Color. hmmn
Anyway its just a way i was experimenting !! Don't know if it work that way for everyone. As you are the only one who mentioned it
2. Well I agree that maybe the 'leading to' option should be worked on !! As for this shot i was hoping that it lead to the 2 trees in the lower right corner (though they aren't too interesting subjects) ! Thus also helping judge depth, the pathway i was skeptical if would come out well after IR processing !!
With 2 dominant element overlapping each other & most of the composition. It would be hard to place them on the right. And find another gateway into the scene. Though i will remember if i come across something where ur suggestion can be included. (Now Thnx again here...)
Its for the same reason the 'flip it' suggestion though gr8 didn't work.
Also I think reason it works here is similar to the reason as it works in centered composition at times. After having compared with other lesser shapes. Depth can be judged & then the eye returns to the main subject. Again its just my opinion. Thats why i am surprised that its working for so many ppl, but it could be the IR & not the composition.
Just a last time thnx Peter

Edit: Of course I did not read all that bullshit

Well, frank I can give you: I like the mood, they way the contrast and coloring worked out.
I like the sense of depth and especially the clouds.
Harsh? Sorry, can't do that here.

Good points there.
I think it might be worth doing a half-colour, half-IR version next time in a similar case. If you use an IR filter, not a tweaked dslr (although there should be a filter workaround in that case as well). it would probably have to go in the photo manipulation section, though... or maybe not, since hdr passes with ease.
It's not like I'd have any real artistic background, but sometimes I like to analyse stuff
Btw., the big version look better, for some reason.

If I'd mention something it would be that the placement of the cloud in relation to the tree is not optimal. I didn't read through all comments but I think someone mentioned this already.
I think I have to follow up more on your stuff Rushi, I've been missing out for a while, and you've obviously been working!

1. How could have i used that space ?
2. Is it really necessary that all of the space be utilized,
Every composition will have -ve space to let the other elements come to fore... !! Besides the corner has blue. which is allowing the whites to stand out !!!
06/17/07 @790
well, as previously mentioned, you need more space at the bottom. dont try to bring up the excuse that you needed to include the upper part too. since its an infrared you probably took the shot with a tripod and it would have been easy to do a panorama with a tripod
Anyway imo this is your best IR to date. really nice focus on those clouds
