Description

This is another composition from the seashore at sunset of Yxlan, Sweden.

I experimented with several filters (polarizer + ND) and long exposure again.

I find this composition slightly more interesting than my previous post. I hope that some will agree.

I dedicate this one to a very talented photographer who in turn gave me the honor on his last post: Humble Bee by  trevorm

PS. Good luck to all nominees of this month! (thumbup)

PS (2). I was btw standing half way out in the water with camera and tripod to shoot this one!

;)

Even better than your last post. I love a good shot taken at this time of day. I especially like the rock that juts out in the water. The image has a surreal quality to it. Very well done!

Haha! Thanks, Patrick, for the reciprocal dedication! :)
Very cool! Love how the water looks like ice. Wonderful colours and lighting. And I agree completely about this being a more interesting composition than Seashore Magic by Elite moserArtist

Perhaps the yellows are a bit too saturated?

Excellent as always + 10

It would be great if was even wider. My feelings towards this one are almost the same as with the previous one, this time, however, I found two eye catchers - the two big rocks.
There is some overexposure but it's only bothersome a little on closer inspection of the photo yet it didn't draw too much attention when I first saw the photo, so I suppose it's OK here.

Agree with rest about this being a better composition !! And also about the slightest overexposure !!
I think that U should be shooting such shots at twilight to get even better colors... Though i understand U r also aiming at getting the stuff below the water.
Experimental but Still nowhere around your best :p !!!
sorry buddy !! I know u will understand what i mean !!!

I have a question is the filter on your camera doing that look to the water?
I have to say it looks like ice or fog something like that
or worse some what polluted water?
im taking this shot and your other shot and seeing the same thing..
to me it doesn't look natural.. I would think if you took a photo of nature like this you would want your viewers to want to be there maybe go swimming?? yah know?
but if you look at the water I wouldn't swim in that eek.
sorry im giving you my first impressions..
maybe im all wrong but thats how I see it
I hope you understand

:)
ps the rocks look great :)
pss I was gunna comment on your last one but after reading what you said in the say what about how teed off you were about getting a 0 I said oh boy better not say a word..
btw it wasn't me if I did I would say it... and also you shouldn't worry about that..
really its not a big deal..

Avatar moserArtist

@kittyKat:
  • Slow shutter speed gives a smooth texture of water (like in a river stream)
  • Fast shutter speed gives the details (like a turning wave)
To me it is a form of photography that I personally like a lot and appreciate but of course is something that I have learned from other photographers.

I guess it is all a matter of taste, right?

The sea is good for swimming, promise you! :p

PS. Nice to see you comment my stuff btw (which happens rarely)... ;)

This works better than the first. Good colors and composition. The only fault would be the overexposure in the bright sunlit parts.

Now that’s a nice one! Much more interesting than the previous one, indeed!

I'm not crazy about the very strong yellow highlights on the rocks, and of the blasted horizon on the right.

Maybe HDRI could help, but it really must be done right, it's a tricky process. Most of the time I see a HDRI shot, I feel it looks cheesy and worst than a properly exposed "normal" shot with manual PP.

Good work!

I like the water effect here Patrick ... and the reflections within. I feel that the yellows are overwhelming though and create unbalanced color palette. The exposure in my humble opinion could have been stepped down 1/2 to reduce over-exposure on the water and on some areas of rock. A less tight right side crop would help the composition. The rock jutting to the right is just begging for more room. I agree this is a better composition and certainly more appealing than your last post.

Avatar solosymphony

 08/02/07 @491

Outstanding! The Sharpness of the standing objects in contrast with the silky soft water, and the supurb composition of the shot make this one a winner, well done.

Avatar Excorbac

 08/02/07 @540

Indeed, simply magic! I love this kinda foggy water. The problem (is it a problem anyway?) is that it makes water close to white in the background. Maybe you have lost definition in the reflection due to long time exposure. Light on the rocks and trees is wonderful. top marks (edit ->;) and straight to favourite artworks :)

Avatar moserArtist

 08/02/07 @541

@MsMichelleLynn:
I do agree with you and previous comments regarding the slight overexposure. Not happy about that part. ;)

Regarding seeing more on the righthand side I was faced with a problem.
I am nowadays using a Canon 5D which is a full size camera. With this setup I was using my Canon 24-70 lense with Cookin filters and the Cookin filter holder is shown when going for the widest angle unfortunitely. This limits my possibilities for a wider view. It was wider but I had to crop it out due to this factor unfortunitely.

I will for sure have the possibility to experiment more with different camera settings for this kind of composition.

Thanks all for constructive critics!

Eh Patrick, I am not very often here anymore, sorry about that... Even though I am a but distracted in the left upper corner (trees are cut but hey, one has to stop somewhere hehe...) I love the picture. What's very interesting in your latest posts is the slow shutter that gives a dreamy effect on the water. As usual I love the colors; perfect saturation to me (thumbup)

Man I told you before... you are da bomb!!

Did you do anything to the water? It looks so foggy, in a way. It looks beautiful, almost fantasy like. The land seems to almost float above it, since I almost can't see any shadows of it in the water. I like the contrast between the yellow and the blue here. It's wonderful!
