Description
I completed this painting in a 10-hour exam for my A level art brief on 'Viewpoints' or something like that. I, as always, went down the obscure route and decided to look at mirror images and the role/position of the viewer within the artwork... I guess this was a bit of a rip on Manet's famous Bar at the Folies-Bergere, where the viewer is shown in the mirror image as being a stately-looking bearded gentleman.Except in my version I forgot to put the mirror image in (smart move, that) so it is a little more vacuous in concept.
The model is my very beautiful twin sister, who very graciously allowed herself to be portrayed as an odalisque. Heh.
This was selected to be exhibited at some Young Artist's Award Thinggy in Pall Mall over a year ago. ^_^ my first exhibition! I only got it back from my school last month, so I apologise for the oldness of it. Argh what an essay. Sorry!
.Oil paint on rather large canvas board.
