Description
This is my entry for AC Ryan's HIFX Evolution contest. AC Ryan CONTEST : HIFX EvolutionI concentrated a lot on making a dynamic kind of pose to show progress and change.
Decided to try lighter colors for a change.
Spent quite a long time on this, but it was one of the most fun paintings I've done for a contest so far.
Used a reference photo(my own, meh) for the face, but the rest is just stuff pulled out of my head.
Photoshop CS3 and Wacom Volito2 tablet.
I've 2 different versions of this, and you're only seeing the much smaller version of one of them here. Anyone who's interested in checking out the other version, and the closeups, can click below

Well, I don't like the feel of this painting. Other than that I don't know how this really fits in with evolution, I think you should have used a slightly wider range of colors. I don't think the colors you picked look nice together.Which I don't think defines evolution, since evolution is part of nature... I don't really know how to explain what I mean well...
Oh, I'm part danish by the way!

i thought the concept's pretty clear, so i tried to avoid putting a lot of stuff about it in the description. but here goes..as stated in the competition guidelines, it could be about the evolution of anything, not just the species. well i decided that this painting should reflect both human and technological evolution..that's why she's got those boney wings on, with fabric attached to them instead of natural tissue...anyways, each to her own taste i suppose, but it would've been nicer of you to check out the larger versions/closeups before tearing the piece apart
plasticine: thank you so much, i really appreciate the support
zahara: thank you ver much
jawine: thanks, i see what you mean about the details, but i tried to keep things clean and neat with this one. i guess lots of details would make this look more eye-catching, but that also went against my concept. same with the background
