Description

Actually it's dead, which made it a pretty easy capture. I saw this dragonfly floating on a small lake this summer. I think the surface tension of the water looks kind of cool.

(Unfortunately I haven't been able to get out and take any new photographs lately.)

Sad destiny, but great capture!! Awesome details, really wonderful!

I totally disagree with Daykan and sorry Workster.

A dead dragonfly is not very exciting imo. :( :p

The surface may look nice but the main subject is not really in focus more than one of the wing pairs.

The rest is blurred and way out of focus (at least on my monitor).

Not very impressed unfortunitely... ;) You can do much better!

I like the details and the shimmer from the sun. A bit too tightly cropped though. I think it would work better with some more space at the top and left.

Very nice details on the wings!....the sruface tension effect is very nice!
I love the title "Unusually cooperative dragonfly" and your sense of humor!!
Merry Christmas to you Don!!

Very pretty picture, and indeed, the suns reflection is great. I would have gone for a higher diaphragm... Got any exif files?

I think the idea is interesting; unfortunately, blur areas disrupt the composition.

I do like the premise of this Don and the effects caused by the surface tension of the dragonfly on the water. I wish it was sharper throughout. Perhaps if you'd shot at a smaller aperture you'd have a more effective photo. Th water is beautiful ... right down to the small prism effect.

I disagree with moserArtist on this one.The tension in the watersurface is great. And the title is very cool.

So the title could be considered an "internal" dragonfly joke I guess...

The tension on the surface is good, no doubt. ;)

Still, personally, I am not that keen on the dead dragonfly thing though!

I was going to say: one of the best dragonfly flight shots I have seen. Doesnt look like it touches the water.

I am okay with the selective DOF. Would be nice if the whole body was included. I dont mind the other pair of wings out.

Thanks for the comments (on the photo and the title). I agree that smaller aperture & more in focus would be better.

It's a good shot, I think that the C&C before me have said it all, I'd just like to say that I liked the water tension effect I just didn't liked that much of the dead subject...

I wish more of the dragonfly was in focus:)
Lovely colors and the wings look like they're made of diamond;)

Unfortunately I have to agree with Moser on this one..... even though the photo looks rather cool, its quite out of focus and a dead dragon fly doesnt capture my interest..... Sorry :( I am sure as I have seen your other photos that you can do much better and have done much better than this :)
