Description

Hi all:)

This is my second painting of a small dino series.

The Pteranodon is the most commonly known flying reptile from that era.

Painted with PS CS3 and Wacom Graphire 4 tablet.

This will get printed on tee's and posters

A water texture is used to speed up the process, which is heavily repainted to suit the image.

Good work as always. The dinosaurs are done well. My only thought is that the background could use a bit more contrast and shadows especially the cliff face which I think should be darker.

As I have already said, love the dusk in the desert style lighting, the perspective is fantastic. Lovely detail as usual! Gorgeous.

Thanks Jossie, Andydude!

Gary: originally the cliff was really darker but it was interfering too much with the dino's...this being a shirt design the foreground figure needs to stand out
I agree though the contrast of the rocks could be higher...thanks!:)

Fantastic textures and smoothness! I especially love the mood with the late afternoon sunset that comes sneaking in the horizon. Just lovely. :)

Nice work. The "crop" feels a bit too tight to me though.

I also miss some contrast, and feel its tight.
These becomes almost negligible issues given the quality and depth. The lighting on the water is the most impressive part here. Great job.

Thanks Jerrica, Bea, Mustafa, Pedro, Eyal:)

About the cropping: The main Pteranodon has to be as big as possible on the canvas which is the focalpoint on the tee.
Tricky task as the wings are spread, and the dimensions of the image needs to be avoided to be square-like. So it's like juggling with with two contradicting elements. Well uhm...just an explanation why the cropping is tight, I agree it isnt aesthetical!:)

Beautiful rendering on the focal pteradon Vincent, I really like the smooth transitions in colour and tone. Looks like a 3D render which is a compliment, shows you've nailed the shadow and lighting on this one.

Great work man, can't w8 to see more!

I really like the lighting on the head. Seems like the middle of the wings should be a bit more transparent but that's a small detail! Fantastic job with this series so far bud!
