Description
This bird is a Bohemian Waxwing. In Calgary they are a winter bird that spends the summer north of us. This one is in a mountain ash tree - the mountain ash berries are one of their favourite food sources. (Sometimes the berries are fermented on the tree and the birds get drunk.)Bohemain Waxwings often form very large flocks which are fun to watch because they expand and contract as they move, like some kind of giant amoeba that seems to be controlled by one mind.

Nice setting with the branches and the "cherries".
Sharp around the eyes and beak which is good!
The lower left part has a foreground/blurred branch that is just slightly distracting.
I think there is room to crop it even tighter...

Great job with the sky too. Difficult not to burn it shooting into a tree.
Some little level of noise around the flanks/ undertail coverts is worth cleaning. Not too distracting though obvious.
Top mark from me. Thanks for sharing, bring us some more Canadian birdies...

moserArtist - Glad the eye and beak look good (the original posting includes a little extra sharpening on the eye and feet)
Michelle and purplerose - this was taken on a very grey overcast day, the lighting was definitely not ideal
