Description

Image was taken at rush hour at the Arc De Triumph Paris !

In 1961, President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy of the United States paid their respects at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, accompanied by French President de Gaulle. After the 1963 assassination of President Kennedy, Mrs. Kennedy remembered the eternal flame at the Arc de Triomphe and requested that an eternal flame be placed next to her husband's grave at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. President de Gaulle went to Washington to attend the state funeral, and he was able to witness Jacqueline Kennedy lighting the eternal flame that was inspired by her visit to France.

The Arc de Triomphe is one of the most famous monuments in Paris. It was commissioned in 1806 after the victory at Austerlitz by Emperor Napoleon I at the peak of his fortunes. Laying the foundations alone took two years, and in 1810 when Napoleon entered Paris from the west with his bride Archduchess Marie-Louise of Austria, he had a wooden mock-up of the completed arch constructed...

Good composition, colors, and exposure. I might have cut the two trees down in front of the Arc but I suppose they didn't allow your chainsaw on the plane. I like the B&W but the intense colors add a good element.

Stop flooding the gallery you big ape!!

@gary. The comp for this latest was fully controlled by the bloody trees !! :) I was 2 hours at this location waiting for the light..... Well actually i was 2 hours looking out the window of the pub, but it was the same thing just warmer !! :)

Thanks to Michelle and Patrick for all your help in getting this ready !

Hmhm, nice lighting, and a good way of portretting Paris. The sense of quietness with a busy streetlife at the same time is very correct, and fits the mood of the city.

The streetlight do bother me.... Very distracting, but I guess they were all over the place and it couldnt be done any other way... A 8 out of 10 from me, for you! Yaaay... And nice to see you post some more :)

You used the trees very well and to your advantage. Not easy to do!
The image without you lacks something!!

You are a bit like hitchcock! ;)

We know what that means!

Great scene and a awesome idea which is very well executed.

I like the trees framing this a bit.

BW is my preference!

Keep throwing your pieces in here Mr Monkey boy... :p

Shit, you fooled us. You are totally human. :(

The is very very neat to look at.

I would try a different white balance. Just a matter of taste.

All versions are cool. I would heal the big over-exposed spot in the last one. :p

My fav part of your photos is the way you use elements in the shot to get depth & scale, like the trees here. Also the placement of Arc de Triomphe in the scene. Brilliant exposure, great job with contrasting colors, [hot & cold together is a theme in all the 3 shots], sharp as always.

I think it's all been said, I really really like it! My only remark and it's such a tiny little one not sure if it's worthy to be mentioned. I would try to remove the ghost figure on the left, but it's dim that most people won't even see it.

Thanks to "everyone" ! its really appreciated !!

Roadrunner, well spotted on the last additional download ! other colour temps didnt work as they ended up feeling far to cold..

@Carlos, maybe i used the burn tool on my hair ;)

@millink, i hid one of the street lights behind a tree. but the composition is controlled by the tree line up ! so that was the best comp.

@Vasco, both Michelle and Patrick seen this image before it was posted, and i told them that the "ghost" was the person with me..
its on purpose ! just to give the photo a bit extra ,
Origional title "watching Rush hour with a ghost"
I wanted to see if it would be spotted !

@andy, I wonder how many get the Boots joke LOL (boots is a chemist with a photo processing counter)

Avatar DarkAnubis

i truly love this genre of photos especialy if they have "ghosts".
For me even the sligthes change in a photo its what it makes it an original.. if we keep on going by the same rules.. take out this take out that.. in a couple of time we lose our originality a stop doing art.. just post process photos..

Its nice that you put up that the explanation of the ghost.. and the original title.. makes it even greater..
Great photo as usual.. top marks..

Beautiful work with the exposure. The man on the bench, a good way to add an observer in to the picture.
