Description

The is a female Orange-breasted Bunting that I saw in Mexico. These buntings are not found in Canada or the United States so it was a treat to see them. The females have some striking colours but the males are shockingly colourful. Unfortunately the males had a knack for staying just outside of my effective camera range.

EDIT - link for version with higher contrast and saturation added

I would crop it tighter.
Also suggesting a healing of the green branch below.

th background seems unusual..
would replace it with a blue background, a tree a few clouds and a spaceship..
choose one from the list ! ;)

Sharp and well composed. I would keep the green stem. With the brown branches it follows the lines of the bird and frames it nicely.

I also wish the sky wasnt grey, but thats what you frequently get photographing birds in the wild, and its not a bad background after all.

This photo oddly reminds me of one of Audubon's paintings. It seems very 2-dimensional and has that perfectly flat and almost painted background.
I really love the simplicity and purity of the photo.

Very nicely done.

PS ... the green twig doesn't seem out of place to me at all.

Thanks for the comments. I like the green twig - not sure why, I just do.

This wasn't actually taken with sky as the back ground. There were shrubs and trees behind this bird but it was a foggy morning. The good news is the fog blotted out distracting background objects. The bad news is the greyness.

I like the green twig as well. it adds a bit if colour to the composition, of you removed it I think the grey BG would overtake the composition. Very nice bird shot.

Well done! Very sharp and the little green stem adds to the scene. Works great with the bird's color! Keep it up! +10

A great little composition. I love how the vine and branches frame the subject. Pump up the saturation and contrast for more impact.

Pretty nice photo.

I think it could use more contrast though.

That green thing is a bit distracting.
