Description
I woke yesterday morning to a couple of inches of fresh snow on the ground. I grabbed my camera and headed to a local bird sanctuary where I spotted this Richardson's Ground Squirrel (aka gopher) when it came out of a hole in the ground. By late afternoon the snow had all melted.

Would crop off nearly half of the top to give it a more horizontal setup; this would help even out the composition, imo.
Pulled it into PS and with a bit of tweaking after conversion to B/W it looks like a stronger image to me.

purplerose - I wanted some depth and space to make it seem like this guy is in the middle of an expanse of snow.

moserArtist - You're right they're cool looking creatures, but these gophers are so common that it's easy to take them for granted. In fact they're pests that cause a lot of damage to farmer's fields. Go to the Discussion forum and check out "Rodenator". (I don't dare post this link in my own comments section for fear it will hijack all of the comments.)
