His gun is cut at the edge and it's very disturbing - it's the first thing that popped for me. I love the background.Did you try to make it in different direction of the man?Just curious

I like your painting style.Nice concept. I think the solder needs some highlights on the helmet.

You are right about the gun...it seems like pasted (though it is not) or in another layer (it isnt). Now I see it after your comments I must agree with you.
Not sure what you mean Curly about the direction of the background.
