Description

This painting is inspired by a place of legends. This fountain named Fontaine de Barenton can be found in the legendary Broceliande forest, which is situated east of Ille-et-Vilaine (french departement), in Brittany.
The fountain is told to host faeries. When water is spilt on the stone (where I draw a couple of Korrigans, sort of local imps), it brings rain and storm for cultures if they come to dryness.

I painted this piece as a gift to my girl-friend at the time. I remember it was a real challenge to paint all these stones (many hours!) It was the first piece after a very long time without painting. I fell on it two days ago and I decided it was not too bad to be published here.

The reference photo was shot by myself years ago at the real fountain of Barenton, Broceliande forest.
