Very nicely painted. The cloud formation is way cool. Unfortunately, I end up focusing on the sky and landscape, because it's so intriguing; the Queen and most of her beetles get lost, however, due to coloration and compositional choices. Somehow she needs to be placed more dramatically if you want her to be the focus (on top of a craggy mountain, set against the sky, for instance). No denying the image is very beautiful, though.

I think putting some mist in front of the mountain
and give the queen a different color would help
the focus/depth issue

That said I like the concept and those beetles are great

Kerry I realise the queen should be more of a focal point but if I moved her there would be an open space in the middle, maybe doing what Vincent said and changing the colour of her robes will help things. thanks for the comment

Vincent I agree with you. I think changing the colour of the queens robes would help, I will definatley go back to it some time and tweak it.

George - Yeh I know what you mean, I think making it darker in places would help the image but I've found in previous paintings I go OTT on dark and light which makes it look like theres strong lighting when sometimes thats not what im intending to get across. I wanted in this image to be on a bright day in the desert hence the reason for the lack of darker colours.

Good concept I think you should have given the queen some more contrast color. I like the mountain texture. Clouds are a bit weird - I think you should use some reference next time Good work! Keep it up

thanks for the comment Nadia, I always like to be inventive with my clouds as you have probably come to realise if you have seen my other works and sometimes get carried away. i like them though, but I know there not everyones taste

this is really gorgeous. i love the dynamic clouds. kinda wish that the figure stood out more from the background, a different color outfit would've made this piece stronger. but still. really good stuff!
